There’s a lot of conversation right now about where our meat comes from.

With us, you never have to wonder.

Our buffalo are born and raised in the United States, roaming the native grasslands of the Great Plains.

They spend their lives on the prairie. No feedlots. No confinement.

And when the time comes, they are harvested right there on the land, with dignity and as little stress as possible.

For more than 30 years, we’ve believed knowing where your food comes from matters.

Not because it’s a talking point.

Because how an animal is raised, how the land is treated, and how food reaches your table matters.

Born here. Raised here. Prairie harvested here.

No guessing required.

If you know someone who cares about where their meat comes from, tag them below. More people should know there is another way.

Our 100% grass-fed, grass-finished buffalo meat is available nationwide at www.wildideabuffalo.com

Turns out, the prairie is a lot busier than it looks.

We have nine active prairie dog colonies covering 690 acres of this ranch. Our largest spans 280 acres alone. Beneath all of it, a network of tunnels, chambers, and communities that have been here long before we arrived.

Prairie dogs are a keystone species. Over 150 wildlife species depend on them in some way. Their tunneling aerates the soil. The grasses around their towns grow back richer. Buffalo seek those patches out. They always have.

This summer we had Travis Livieri and a team of biologists from Prairie Wildlife Research out on the ranch to walk the networks and document what's living beneath the surface. They found burrowing owls. Native forbs returning. Buffalo grazing the richest grass on the ranch.

And one badger that had absolutely no interest in being observed.

The full story is on the blog.

Turns out, the prairie is a lot busier than it looks. There are cities beneath our feet out here. Not metaphorically. Literally. Prairie dogs have been building underground towns on this ranch long before we arrived. Tunnels, chambers, nurseries, escape routes. The whole thing. And they run a tight....

Fatherhood on the Ranch: What My Boys Have Taught Me

Summer break has officially begun for our two boys, and with it comes a sound I didn’t realize I missed until it returned — their laughter echoing across the ranch. It’s a reminder that for the next three months, I won’t be working alone. I’ll have my buddies with me again.

Winter and fall are quiet seasons out here. Too quiet sometimes. When I’m working solo, my pace is fast, my focus narrow, and the only conversation is usually between me and the wind — me cursing it, and the wind howling right back. But when the boys are home, everything shifts. The silence is replaced by a steady stream of questions that always start with, “Where are you going?” and end with, “Can I come ?”

Watching them grow — not just in size, but in who they’re becoming — has been one of the great privileges of my life. Every summer, I hand them a little more responsibility, building on what they learned the year before. We started with the basics: learning the land, the boundaries, the gates, the two-tracks that stitch one pasture to the next.

Then came water systems, fencing, and four-wheeler safety.

This year, for the first time, they moved the herd on their own.

Before eating, most people never think about what an animal experiences in its final moments...

When an animal spends its last moments in fear, cortisol floods its system. That stress hormone doesn’t just disappear... It stays in the meat. It ends up on your plate. It ends up in you.

This is why we partner with and why we’d never settle for anything less than the best. Our co-founders recently took a trip to South Dakota to step foot on the land, meet the owners and learn more about Wild Idea Buffalo’s methods...

Wild Idea is the only company exclusively engaging in large-scale prairie harvest across the Great Plains! Their buffalo are born on the prairie, live on the prairie and take their last breath on the prairie.

They never see the inside of a trailer, a feedlot, or a slaughterhouse. An animal at peace in its final moment releases no cortisol into its system. The result is the most tender, nutrient-dense meat in the world and meat you can feel genuinely good about eating.

For your health and performance, the difference isn’t small. Lower cortisol in your food means less systemic inflammation. Better omega profiles.
The kind of quality that shows up in your recovery, your sleep, and your performance.

Wild Idea calls it “Respect in Life. Dignity in Death.”

It takes longer. It costs more. It is not the most efficient way to do things. But it is the RIGHT way. These standards are a non-negotiable for us here at Elevated Eats. This is what we mean when we say we never buy meat from a grocery store.

The food your body runs on is only as good as the decisions made long before it reaches your plate. We trace every decision back to the source... because our clients deserve to know exactly what they’re putting in their bodies.

This is just one of the reasons Elevated Eats is different.
Not just what we cook. But who we trust to raise it.
If you aren’t following and eating their bison yet, what are you waiting for? With each bite, you can FEEL the difference. 🦬

This all started with a wild idea!

“I have dedicated my life to preserving and restoring the Great Plains grasslands. By returning the bison to their native homeland, we’re not only rewilding a threatened ecosystem, we are keeping prairies intact, with carbon stored safely underground, and producing the healthiest red meat on the planet.”
- Dan O’Brien, Founder.

We were founded to fulfill this mission and to offer an alternative to the industrialized food system.

The idea was simple: offer delicious, healthy, 100% grass-fed and finished buffalo meat to consumers interested in supporting a healthier planet and a sustainable food supply.

We were founded on this single idea.

To offer delicious, healthy, 100% grass-finished buffalo meat to consumers interested in supporting a healthier planet, while restoring the grasslands of the Great Plains.

And since 1997 that’s what we’ve been doing!

We encourage you to know where your meat comes from.
