My climb of Half Dome in 1977. There were no permits required, not very many people at all. We camped the night before at the campground near the river and got up early in the morning to get up there. Word was out that there was a mama bear and her cubs shortly before we would get to Half Dome. We never saw them. We stashed our backpacks in some brush before we started the climb. It was film cameras back then and it was very overcast with clouds above and below us when we were on Half Dome. Sorry, this picture is a bit dark. I believe we say three other people while going up and down the cables. It took me about 15 minutes to get up the cables.
