Hi friends -

The RFM will be making its triumphant return next Wednesday, May 27!

New location will be announced soon. It’s close by and still walkable for all of our Rivermont neighbors. Once we get everything squared away and official we’ll pop back on and let y’all know where the market will be headed.

Appreciate all the comments of support after our last cancellation post. Crazy to think that anybody would complain about bringing fresh produce and local foods to the neighborhood but here we are.

I also want to thank our friends at First Christian for hosting us and trying to make this thing work over there. You never know what the future holds for the RFM and FCC but in more ways than one our May 6 market couldn’t have been a better time and so much of that was because of the hospitality given to us by such a wonderful community.

Mark your calendars for MAY 27 and get ready for the KICKOFF PART 2!

Hello friends and neighbors,

First off, I just want to say thanks to all of our vendors and community members for coming out last week to our kickoff market. It was great seeing so many new and old friends come together to support the great work being done by farms and small businesses in our neck of the woods.

The day after the market, the city received a complaint. Because of that complaint, some misunderstandings surrounding the zoning of our little market came to light. We are currently in communication with city hall to see what can be done about the future of the RFM but after a conversation this afternoon, we feel it’s best to cancel this week’s upcoming market on Wednesday, May 13 while we work behind the scenes to move towards a resolution.

We’re pretty devastated to have to break this news to y’all after such an amazing first market. We’ll be back on with more news later this week as to the future of the market and what our next steps will be.

TODAY IS THE DAY.

Yes, it is rainy out there but it looks like we’ll get some reprieve during our market hours today! A little cloudy but I hope that you all show up for all of our amazing vendors.

I didn’t get a chance to post all of our vendor spotlights leading up to today but rest assured we have a lot of great folks showing up to share their passion with you this evening.

I’ll be posting some of those vendors through our stories today but you’re better off coming through in person and exploring for yourself!

With our second vendor spotlight in one day we are excited to welcome Nufar Studio Designs into the RFM fold!

Sara Tanjala with Nufar Studio Designs started her jewelry business journey 6 years ago. Her work is a blend of earthy + elegance, and these eclectic pieces feature natural resources, some even being local (like river glass).

Her “Trash to Treasure Project” focuses on repurposing glass found on the shores of the James River. The glass is then cleaned, polished, and wire-wrapped into pendants used for various styles of necklaces and keychains. Not only is each piece unique, it’s also a statement: one that emphasizes the importance of keeping our local rivers clean.

Apart from that project, she also offers handmade rings made out of buttons, and unique earrings, necklaces, and bracelets.

Come check out Nufar this WEDNESDAY from 3-7PM!

Happy to announce that friend of the RFM, David Sickmen will be performing with friends from 5 - 7PM at our kick off market on May 6th.

Bring your friends and families out on May 6 and help us support the good work being done by farms, food, and craft vendors in our community.

We love David’s music, whether his solo work or the music he’s made with his longtime group, the Hackensaw Boys and we couldn’t think of a better musical artist to help us kick off our inaugural market.
