Welcome to our farm stand page, where we will be sharing updates on our progress and journey.
Some background on us:
My lifelong dream has been to relocate to a rural area and provide my children with the opportunity to experience the great outdoors. Growing up, I was surrounded by animals, and I have fond memories of spending time outside, whether it was running through the gravel driveway, washing off in the hose, or drinking from the spigot. My experiences showing horses and racing motocross taught me valuable lessons about community and the importance of being part of something larger than oneself. After completing my education, I wanted to explore the world and find my place in it. I spent some time living in the city while attending college, where I met my husband while playing soccer. We got married and moved to the suburbs for a while to experience the neighborhood lifestyle. However, I eventually realized that my true desire was to live in a rural area surrounded by nature. Fortunately, my husband shared my enthusiasm for the outdoors, and we decided to make the move. After having children, I wanted to provide them with the opportunity to experience different lifestyles, and we feel fortunate to have been able to create a nurturing environment for them to grow and develop.
Our three children, Rowen, Boden, and Tobyn, have been instrumental in helping us establish our farm stand. Rowen, our eldest, learned how to use a drill, Boden developed his painting skills using a roller brush, and Tobyn, our youngest, discovered the challenges of getting paint out of her hair.
When we relocated here last year, we purchased an incubator and acquired some eggs from my brother's farm to hatch. This experience provided our children with a unique learning opportunity and helped them develop a strong bond with our flock. We currently have three hens, two ducks, one rooster, and one turkey, who thinks she is a dog. Please note that if she approaches you, she is likely seeking attention and affection.
Our garden is a special place that has already become an integral part of our family's traditions. We all worked together to build and maintain it, and once the plants began to produce edible fruits and vegetables, our children were hooked. Every evening, they would pick peppers from the garden and we would all sit on the porch together, taking bites and seeing who could tolerate the heat without drinking water. This year, our eldest son has decided to create his own garden, planting seeds and using grow lights in our home. To say he is excited is an understatement.
We look forward to sharing our experiences with our community and creating lasting memories.
Side note: We also have a Blue Heeler dog who serves as our protector. As a working breed, her job is to maintain order and keep our family safe. She can be wary of strangers and may bark or lunge at individuals who are not part of our family. We take precautions to ensure her safety and the safety of others by using an electric fence collar. Please do not attempt to pet her, as she may become defensive. Similarly, our rooster is free-range and may become aggressive if he feels threatened. As our children can attest, his attacks are not painful, but we still exercise caution around him.
