Who wants a chance to win some pork brats?? Your choice of regular or hot!

Guess how many pictures Evan has on his phone containing a pig (I’m going off of what it says when I search “pig” in my photos) closest guess will get a package of some delicious brats and I’ll throw in some hotdog buns.

Here’s the rules:
• You have to like and follow our farm page.
• You have to like and share this post.
• You have to comment on this original post with your guess.
•You have to be willing to meet us within 30 minutes of Marshfield in the next week, whenever we can work it out.
•You have to like eating home grown pork!!

We are considering moving our Duroc sow Gloria to a new farm. Not fault of hers we are just slimming down a little before we get busy with a new baby. I will have to give her a bath and get some more updated pictures. She is about 3.5 years old. We have had her for over a year and a half and she has had probably 4 litters for us I’d have to check my records to be sure in that. She usually farrows 12-14 babies and weans 10-12. She’s a big girl so she tends to crush a couple in the first few days. I will get her weighed in the next couple days. She has been exposed to our boar since she was weaned off her last litter and at earliest would farrow October 10th. (Can’t remember for sure the wean date but I have it wrote down at home) Showing no signs of going back into heat so believed to be bred. She’s not a bad sow or we wouldn’t have bred her again we are just lightening the load a little. She’s bred to a full Hereford boar. We are growing some out from her last litter. We have one little Hereford boar that has a great build and would sure be a great sire one day!

If anyone would like to claim him as a boar before he’s no longer a boar, now is your chance.

He’s 4 weeks, and still has 3-4 weeks with his mama.

Deposit is *required* if you want us to keep him uncut.

Gentle reminder: keep the fresh water topped off and those mud wallers FULL!🐷

Pigs can’t sweat! They need shade, plenty of mud for sunscreen, and to be able to get wet whenever they need to so they can lower their body temperature and keep from overheating.☀️

Personal rule of thumb: if your pigs aren’t covered in so much mud that you’re having trouble figuring out who is who, then they don’t have enough mud.😂

And I tell you whaaaaat, being almost 6 months pregnant and watering everyone at 2:30 during the dog days will have a farm wife about ready to jump right in the mud waller with them.😅

Pictures of our pretty Hereford gilt grow outs after their afternoon misting.😍

I (the farm wife) insisted on keeping the darker gilt from the moment she was born. She’s absolutely gorgeous and I love keeping that deep color in our Herefords.🐷

Now we’re just hoping they both have their mama’s natural mothering instinct. She’s such a gentle and sweet mama, I hope she passed that down.🤞🏻
