🐓 A hen needs to consume around 4 # of feed for every dozen eggs produced.

🐓 The yolk color is determined by the types of pigments the hen consumes in her diet.
🐓 Pale yolks can be commonly traced to wheat based diets.
🐓 Diets high in carotenoids (the red pigment found in plants) will have a deeper colour in the yolk. Corn and soy are both high in carotenoids and can create a brighter, more vibrant yellow yolk.
🐓 A dark deep orange color is the result of trace elements of fat-soluble vitamins found in bugs, worms, grass….

🐓 Studies show that farm fresh eggs have less cholesterol and saturated fat than those purchased from the store.

🐓 Unwashed eggs will last around two weeks unrefrigerated and about three months or more in your refrigerator. We have had our personal consumption eggs last unwashed and unrefrigerated for 5-6 months.

🐓 Farm fresh eggs can also contain 25% more vitamin E, 75% more beta carotene and up to 20 times more Omega-3 fatty acids then commercial eggs.

The Farm Stand is open! And we've got some Sunday Specials out! Garden fresh Tomatoes, Pear tomatoes and Spaghetti Squash!

The self serve Farm Stand is up and going! We will have new stuff being added from time to time! Swing on by and grab your veggies and eggs! There is a sign on 196! Today we have Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Cucumbers, Lemon Cucumbers and farm fresh eggs!
