We successfully hatched out some guineas to replenish our flock. Plus we have some juvenile chickens to increase the layers (although several look like roosters 😕).

I was a little under the weather on market day, so we have eggs to sell at the moment ($4/dz).

Cute little Northern Ring snake in the high tunnel. I moved them to a different tunnel so Al and Dusty could work.

Do you notice the salts on the ground? We will be actively working to correct this issue (lots of water to flush the soil).

We are starting to have issues with stunted growth due to salt buildup in the soil. Some growers use sprinklers others will take the off the plastic and allow the rain to flush the soil.

This is also why we will be growing less this year. The tunnels need a rest.

Turkey vultures have returned to roost across from the house and the grackles are at the feeder. Perhaps that darn groundhog was wrong? 🤷‍♀️

The farm lost one of its best workers today. He was good at chasing squirrels, keeping the other two workers in line (Xena and Whiskey), howling when people pulled into the driveway and keeping the farmers guessing as to when his next walkabout would occur. Goodbye Mr. Ramsey! You were the best pup! 🌈

Super Bowl Sunday isn't the only big competition this weekend. Family farmers continue to face low profits while consumers pay high prices at the grocery store. The bottom line is simple: consumers shouldn't pay as much, and family farmers should make more. The problem? Monopolies who continue to drive prices up and family farmers out of business.

Julie has these peppers for sale from the office teaching HT. They are lunch-box sweet peppers.

Since the office is closed for the holiday, message the farm to purchase. Proceeds from the sales of the peppers goes to Tyler County 4-H to help them buy non-perishable foods for the Little Free Pantry.
