Warning - dead animal post!

This is a dead weasel. We have covers on the patio chairs and I've had a mouse that had made one a home. Today the dogs were sniffing around the one chair that was still covered. I figured it was that darn mouse again so I started removing the cover. Turned out it was a weasel! I shouted for Al to get outside and the dogs had the animal trapped in the chair. They spooked it out and Whiskey caught it and chomped it. Weasels can fit through chicken wire and so our juvenile birds that are about 30 ft from the patio would have been really at risk!

We successfully hatched out some guineas to replenish our flock. Plus we have some juvenile chickens to increase the layers (although several look like roosters 😕).

I was a little under the weather on market day, so we have eggs to sell at the moment ($4/dz).

Cute little Northern Ring snake in the high tunnel. I moved them to a different tunnel so Al and Dusty could work.

Do you notice the salts on the ground? We will be actively working to correct this issue (lots of water to flush the soil).

We are starting to have issues with stunted growth due to salt buildup in the soil. Some growers use sprinklers others will take the off the plastic and allow the rain to flush the soil.

This is also why we will be growing less this year. The tunnels need a rest.
