A little PSA from the Double D!
At the end of the day, the reason we do what we do is because the Lord has blessed us with this land, and everything that comes with it—including our pets and livestock. That's not something we take lightly, our animals are family and family is the heart behind everything we do here.
A sweet customer recently let us know how much she enjoyed her visit, and mentioned in passing that she noticed our chickens roaming when she came out. Nothing happened at all—it just got us thinking that livestock on-site might be a bigger deal for some folks than others, and we wanted to address it with love.
We do have chickens on-site, and they often roam freely. Depending on the day, you might see them right up front, tucked in a different corner of the property, or not at all. We think that's part of the charm of a working ranch, but we also know that's genuinely not everyone's cup of tea, and a fear of birds is a real thing! We are currently re-fencing the property and hope to have their area squared away soon. In the meantime—if that's you, please don't let it keep you from our goodies—just message us directly and we'll gladly do our best to arrange a meet-up away from the animals.
For everyone visiting in person, we just ask that every animal you cross paths with here—chickens included—be treated with the same respect and gentleness we show them every day. Please refrain from feeding or chasing them, and if you bring any four-legged friends of your own, we ask that you keep them on a leash or in your vehicle. Please note we do have cameras on the property.
And we'll say this with love: ranch life is real life out here. Animals, dirt, weather, projects, all of it. We are not responsible for any injuries that may occur on-site, so please come with that understanding and keep little ones close. If ranch life isn't for you, we completely understand—but if it is, we would love nothing more than to have you out here with us.
