GrowNYC’s Food for Families project is meeting New Yorkers where the need is greatest.

On November 22, GrowNYC joined Throngs Neck Community Alliance, elected officials, and neighbors for a powerful day of food distribution and connection in Throggs Neck.

Thanks to the partnership and support of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (), Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson () and Council Member Shirley Aldebol (.nyc), we welcomed more than 350 neighbors and distributed 1,500 pounds of farm-fresh produce, alongside halal turkeys and chicken.

Food for Families is more than a project - it’s a lifeline. It ensures low-income New Yorkers can access fresh, affordable food right now, while also supporting the small family farmers whose livelihoods have been shaken by major income loss.

And it’s only possible because of the collective generosity of thousands of New Yorkers. Together, we’re helping community partners across all 5 boroughs keep healthy food on the table for the households that need it most.
