The stand was taken back to mainland to get a few repairs done. After a few conversations- we've come up with a plan to re-open the stand! Availability and cost of fresh produce is still a challenge, but I'll do my best to get what I can. If you don't see us this weekend- we should be open by the next!

Reminders of the island…
My husband found this gem. I found very little on Kelley Ice Cream Co- but quite a bit on Mr. Reinhart, the company’s President. Seems he was a commissioner for the city of Sandusky, held a state office and was President of Sweet Valley Wine Company on KI for about 40 yrs. It was later called Sweet Valley Products, Inc- I’m guessing due to prohibition? Kelley Ice Cream Co. was located at the north ‘foot’ of Mills St. Sandusky and apparently did not last very long- as it wasn’t even mention in Mr. Reinhart’s obituary. Took a drive to see where it might have been and had another reminder of the island- the orange boats were docked- just a stones throw from where it would have been.

Does anyone know anything about the fudge shop? I work at the OSU Ext. of Erie County and our 4-H camp theme this year is W***y Wonka-ish, "Find Your Golden Ticket at Kelleys Island". Our camp director is looking for session ideas on the island. A fudge shop tour or making session would go along perfectly with the theme ;) We're also open to other ideas!
