I tried several times to make a video instead of a post, but I couldn’t get through it without crying. So, here it goes in writing.

First and foremost, thank you to everyone who has supported me this year. The response from our community has been incredible. I’ve truly enjoyed every event, every board, and every person I’ve met along the way.

That being said, I will no longer be taking new orders.
If you’re an event coordinator who has reached out recently, thank you so much for thinking of me. Any current orders already on the schedule will not be affected. Beginning in 2026, I’ll no longer be accepting new orders or attending events except for close friends and family. I will delete my page in 2026.

When I started KD’s Cart-Cuterie, my goal was simply to raise funds for our IVF journey. I was inspired by a TikTok creator out of state and wanted to bring something unique to Owensboro. Before I began, I carefully researched to make sure there were no other charcuterie carts in the area. I even asked the business license clerks to double check because that’s how much I wanted to build something original and respectful of others.

Since then, several other businesses have introduced similar services or added charcuterie to their offerings. I don’t take that personally, but I do hope it reminds others that when similar ideas spread, it can unintentionally impact small businesses. I’ve seen this happen often. Whether it’s boutiques, vendors, or makers where competition turns into overlap. Owensboro encourages everyone to Shop Small and Support Local, but sometimes it’s small businesses who unintentionally hurt one another.

To be transparent, this wasn’t a high-profit business. On average, I might have made about $50 per board and that’s before considering the time spent shopping, creating, setting up, and delivering. Healthy, fresh food isn’t cheap, and charcuterie is truly a luxury product. This was never about getting rich, just about making a little extra to help us grow our family.

For those who don’t know, here’s the reason behind my “why.”

In 2017, our first son, Karson, was stillborn due to an umbilical cord accident. Losing him broke us in ways words can’t describe.

In 2018, I miscarried at 9 weeks. The day before, we heard a perfect heartbeat. The next day, it was gone.

In 2019, during our 20-week anatomy scan with our baby girl Kaydence, we learned she had no amniotic fluid. After many tests at Norton’s, we were told she had no kidneys. We were given two choices, neither ones any parent should have to make. We chose to go home and carry her as long as we could. Kaydence was born at 36 weeks and lived for four precious hours in my arms before passing. She now rests with her brother.

A year later, I received a message from a distant friend asking if we would consider adoption. That’s how our sweet Declan came into our lives. We were there for every ultrasound, every moment, and at his birth. He’s our world and he asks for a sibling almost every day.

Since then, we’ve struggled to conceive again. After countless tests and specialists, we’ve been told IVF is our best option although with our history, there are still no guarantees. If IVF isn’t successful, we hope to adopt again.

As many know, IVF and adoption can each cost upwards of $30,000 and that’s just the starting point. All we’ve ever wanted is to grow our family.

As I close this chapter and begin a new one, I want to thank everyone again for your love, kindness, and support throughout this journey. KD’s Cart-Cuterie may have been short-lived, but it brought me so much joy and connection.

If anyone is interested in purchasing my remaining stock or supplies, please feel free to reach out.

With love and gratitude,
Kayla 💗
