I love growing vegetables, and raising my beautiful free ranged Organically (but not certified) chickens. Red Wattles have 2 wattles under their chins. We have 1 American Mulefoot sow, Piggy Sue and 1 Boar, Abraham. Even though Abraham is a boar, he is the sweetest and very gentle. These are the rarest and the oldest breed of pigs in the USA. They have feet like Mules. We have 7 piglets from the
m. We also have 2 1/2 Red Wattles/half Mulefoots, Stella, and Susie Q. Susie Q just gave birth Jan 12, 2013 to 6 piglets. The pigs are fed some Morrison's Organic feed, and are on acres of pasture, and eat the pasture mostly. They are also fed our vegetables, during the summer, and our canned or frozen vegetables in the winter. The chickens are free ranged, and eat our vegetables as well as Morrison's Organic feed. In the winter, we also feed them canned tomatoes and frozen vegetables, as well as our grains we raise. These are some of the best eggs you will ever eat. My older roosters are some of the best flavorful and nutritional chickens and have the great taste as when I was a kid, before all the chemicals and antibiotics were forced onto the chickens. The yolks are a very nice orange color, not the pale yellow color as in the grocery stores and other places. My son, Ben and I raise vegetables in several acres. We grow between 1000 to 2000 hot pepper plants, tomatoes, mixed lettuces, cabbages, fancy greens, beans, peas, broccoli, summer squashes, baby kale, green onions, green garlic, herbs, tomatillos, pineapple tomatillos, cilantro, basil, and so much more! In the early Spring, I have wild ramps, or also called Wild leeks to sell at the Farmers Markets. We also grow grains and many other things for our chickens and pigs.
