2026 elderberry harvest is now in the books! We're so thankful for a safe, fruitful harvest. How fruitful, you might ask? 1,000.2 lbs! We all cheered when the last bucket of de-stemmed berries was weighed and we'd made our goal with 0.2 lbs to spare. Woo-hoo!

Our elderberry harvest is nearly complete, and we're excited to bring our frozen and freeze-dried elderberries to Oskaloosa Vendor and Farmers Market tomorrow from 9-12 on the square! We'll have EB syrup kits to support your family through cold and flu season, EB jelly ready to make the best breakfast toast or PBJ sandwich ever, and our refreshing elderberry lemonade to sip while you stroll the market! Come see us under the purple canopy!

Our elderberries are now at the Three VP's Farm farmstand west of Bussey on Hwy G71 near Hwy 5! They also have a variety of seasonal produce, delicious salsas, focaccia, eggs, poultry, pork and more--check out this neat family's farmstand!! Thanks, VPs!!!

It's a chestnut!! We planted 70 Chinese chestnuts back in November of 2023, and we have 4 burrs developing! Hopefully we'll have enough to experiment with and enjoy by 2030, and by 2037, we should be harvesting a solid crop to share. Agroforestry isn't productive quickly, but we're enjoying watching our chestnuts grow. And the sunsets... I'll always enjoy watching them!!

At Pella Farmers' Market today, the theme is "Stock your Freezer," and we're bringing our elderberry freezer to help you do just that!
While you stroll the market (4 PM-7PM), stop by for our fan-favorite homemade elderberry lemonade! Then follow our recipe to make your own from frozen elderberries.

If you don't have a juicer, you can simmer your berries with an equal volume of water (2 cups berries, 2 cups water) for 30 minutes and strain through a fine mesh strainer, mashing with the back of a spoon to help extract juice.

Our Bob Gordon elderberry bushes are starting to taper off, but the East Grove bushes are ramping up! We have well over 1,100 bushes, and the berry patch is a beautiful place to spend a few hours.

Frozen elderberries: $10/lb, (available in 1lb or 1.5 lb bags) or $35 for 4 lbs. Bulk pricing available.

1 lb is just under 4 cups. Frozen berries work very well for making syrups (either the immune system supporting variety or pancake/ice cream syrup). They're also great for juicing or making jelly.

We'll have our berry freezer at Pella Farmer's Market, and we're also happy to meet in Pella or Oskaloosa. Just send us a message!

We picked and processed 100 lbs of elderberries today! Everyone is beat, but we're thankful for the abundance and for the lovely picking weather this AM! Here's a quick overview of our process.
