The month is nearly halfway over and I’m just now able to find the time to to share it with you all. 🩵 Take a break from scrolling and strap in. 😂 ⬇️⬇️⬇️
I accomplished so much for this showing, and I’m just so very proud.
It’s taken many more years than I’d like to admit to FEEL like an artist, to give myself permission to say it and show it, but I really am.
My journey is my own, and it’s taught me necesarry lessons, but I hope wherever you are in yours, you find whatever validation you need sooner than I did.
I have no formal training in any of it. My mom taught me to knit as a child, I taught myself how to crochet in my early twenties, a friend showed me how to spin twice before I dove in myself, and I read books and watched videos on weaving.
My training and education is with animals, and that’s where I have always felt comfortable owning. But holy s**t, I’m an artist too.
So from the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has purchased a piece, shown up to the gallery, shared my posts on Instagram, and cheered me on from afar. I would not be here without you.
3 days after First Friday, I became very sick, thinking it was just my MS flaring from all of the extra time I’ve been putting in to my art on top of working my 40 hour a week job and tending to a farm.
Well after a 104 fever and sensations similar to when I was first diagnosed and lost use of my hands, I tested positive for Covid.
I havent played with fiber or touched my farm animals since Monday, and it’s starting to get to me.
I’ve felt discouraged knowing that I won’t have yarn available to share by April like I was hoping, but what I do is intentionally slow, and this has been an important reminder that this slowness extends beyond the actual creating.
Bags and bags of mohair and alpaca will soon be washed, blended, carded and spun. By what date? That is up to the fiber (& Multiple Sclerosis) gods 😂
I’m excited to shift to why I set out to do originally- hand spun yarn and hand processed batts from my loved herd.
So thank you for following me on my art gallery journey, and I’m so excited to share my next chapter very, very soon.
Stay tuned. 🩵
