Upgrade your sustainability commitment by shopping our weReturn program; easily cut down on single-use plastics while still enjoying your favorites!

How does weReturn work? Well, we pack some of our top-selling products from our bulk, deli, and prepared foods departments (like Mom’s Tuna, Garlic Hummus, and House Grind Peanut Butter to name a few) in reusable containers. You can enjoy your favorite foods more sustainably by paying a $3 deposit per container, which is fully refunded when you return it.

Just make sure to rinse the containers at home before bringing them back, and we will take care of the rest! We will clean and sterilize the containers to start the loop all over again! It’s that simple!

You are INVITED! Come out and witness the official celebration of the "Weaving a Bountiful Harvest" mural located on the side of our Germantown store on Friday, June 12, from 4 to 6:30 pm.

Oh, it is beautiful! Commissioned by Mural Arts and designed by Euhri Jones, we are so grateful to have this magnificent artwork for years to come.

The mural reflects the natural abundance and seasonal rhythms of the Wissahickon landscape, highlighting the interconnected systems that sustain local food and community life, honoring Weavers Way, and our neighbor, poet Sonia Sanchez.

You can definitely expect to have a great time at our celebration! Join us for a ribbon cutting and remarks from stakeholders, local elected officials, and Euhri Jones. We’ll also have light refreshments, a DJ, an art activity for kids, soft pretzels and sweet treats! We are going to have a fun, jam-packed two and a half hours.

"These curly-curly green stalks burst from hardneck garlic varieties after winter passes and the plant begins to grow and develop. Farmers and gardeners trim the green scape off the plant in the late spring or early summer so the garlic can develop into a plump head. Garlic scapes can be used in most of the same ways that you already use garlic cloves. The flavor is mellower and sweeter than standard cloves. When young and tender, their texture isn’t much different than green beans. Sometimes they can be tough or woody, so cooking or lightly blanching will make them far more enjoyable. As always, it is amazing what you can do with one vegetable if you are open to it! Connect the dots between garlic scapes and pesto preparation, blend them into a vinaigrette for salads, add them to your butter to finish a steak or burger, grill them, or, of course, eat them on their own as a side!
