Last weekend I had the chance to take a vinegar class with and I absolutely loved it ๐ŸŒฟ

We learned about the history of vinegar, different types, and how it can be used in everyday life. My favorite part was tasting the different types of vinegar.. the balsamic vinegar from Italy was delicioussssss yall๐Ÿ˜‹ We learned how to make scrap vinegar from kitchen leftovers and creating a spring tonic for digestion and seasonal allergies.

We also learned how to use fruit shrubs for mocktails and a non toxic multipurpose cleaner which I thought was pretty cool.

If you are into herbs, natural living, or just love learning new skills I highly recommend taking one of her classes. I walked away with so much inspiration and practical knowledge.

I went to a beekeeping class today I enjoyed myself and learned a lot!

Hereโ€™s some of the stuff I learned today ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฏ

Queen Bee:

The queen is the heart of the hive. Her primary role is reproduction. She lays up to 1,500 to 2,000 eggs per day during peak season and releases pheromones that keep the colony unified, calm, and functioning. She does not collect nectar or defend the hive.

Worker Bees:

Worker bees are all female and make up the vast majority of the hive. Their role changes as they age.

โ€ข House bees (young workers) clean cells, care for larvae, feed the queen, and produce royal jelly and beeswax
โ€ข Nurse bees feed and tend to developing larvae etc.
โ€ข Builder bees create and repair comb using beeswax
โ€ข Guard bees protect the hive entrance from predators
โ€ข Forager bees (older workers) leave the hive to collect nectar, pollen, water, and propolis

Drone Bees:

Male bees have one purposeโ€ฆTo mate with a queen and support the future of the colony. They do not forage, defend the hive, or make honey. (Like some of yโ€™all baby dads ๐Ÿ˜‚ I kid I kid) Thatโ€™s why theyโ€™re kicked out the hive during the cold season.

Some more random facts:

๐Ÿ1 bee makes 1 teaspoon of honey in their lifetime, crazy!

๐ŸฏHoney NEVER expires, like ever!

๐ŸBeeโ€™s are related to ants and wasps

๐ŸฏThere are over 20,000 species

๐ŸHoney bees are actually very gentle, and they die if they sting you.

๐ŸฏIn a bees lifetime they fly 1- 1/2x the circumference of the earth

๐ŸThey have a regular stomach and a honey stomach

๐ŸฏTheir predators are skunks and bears (thatโ€™s why you donโ€™t wear black or red when tending to bees.. they will mistake you for a bear or skunk and attack you ๐Ÿ˜ณ)

Would yall try beekeeping?!?!?!?

Spent the evening making Fire Cider at

The class was lead by Nick who also did the BYHA course, so I felt right at home.

Fire Cider in simple terms..is a strong, tangy tonic people take in small amounts to help support their immune system, digestion, and circulation, especially during cold and flu season. It is called fire cider because it tastes hot and warming and gives a noticeable kick when you drink it.

You can add it to water, tea or even a salad ๐Ÿ˜‹ the choice is yours..

We added: onions, garlic, ginger, turmeric, black pepper corns, thyme, cinnamon, oranges, lemons, hot peppers, sage, rosemary.. and of course apple cider vinegar (with the mother) & honey.

We have to let it soak for about a month, so it can extract all the yummyness and then we will be good to go! ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Would you try this?
