Making hard-boiled eggs with farm-fresh eggs can be tricky — because they’re so fresh!

Store-bought eggs are often already 60 days old by the time you purchase them. As eggs age, the membrane between the shell and the egg weakens, which makes them much easier to peel. Fresh eggs still have a strong membrane, so peeling can be more challenging.

Here’s the best method for a perfect peel every time:

• Bring a pot of water to a full boil.
• Once boiling, gently lower in your eggs.
• Cook to your desired doneness.
• Immediately place the eggs into an ice bath.
• Let them fully cool before peeling.

Using this method, your farm-fresh eggs should peel beautifully! 🥚✨

Did you know rainy/ snowy weather means muddier eggs? 🥚🌧️

When the ground is wet, our chickens walk through mud and naturally track it back into their nesting boxes. That’s why you’ll sometimes see a bit of dirt on eggs at local farm stands—it’s totally normal!

Why don’t farmers wash the eggs right away?
Eggs have a natural protective layer called the bloom, which keeps bacteria out and allows the eggs to stay counter-stable for up to 2 weeks. Once you wash an egg, that protection is removed.

What should you do with a muddy egg?
Just rinse it with water, wipe it with a paper towel, and pop it into the fridge. Washed eggs will stay fresh for up to 3 months when refrigerated.

Most of the time eggs are clean and ready to enjoy—but when you spot a little dirt, don’t worry! It’s just a sign your eggs came straight from happy, outdoor-loving hens. 🐔💛

Did you know? 🥚
Egg production naturally decreases during the winter months! Chickens rely on daylight to lay eggs, so when the days get shorter, they produce fewer eggs.

They also go through a process called molting, where they shed old feathers and grow new, fluffier ones to stay warm through the cold season. During this time, egg production slows down even more.

As the winter months approach, we’ll be seeing fewer eggs — so come grab yours while they’re still available!

And don’t forget to check out our Little Free Library attached to the egg stand 📕🏠

This weekend, we’re also picking up a fresh local honey order, butternut squash, and full-sized pumpkins! 🎃

🥚✨ Did you know? Farm fresh eggs don’t actually need to be refrigerated!

Each egg is naturally coated with something called a bloom — it protects the egg from bacteria. That means you can safely leave them out on the counter for up to 2 weeks.

👉 When you’re ready to use them, just give them a quick rinse.
👉 Prefer fridge storage? Wash them first and they’ll last up to 3 months chilled.

Store eggs are refrigerated due to washing off the bloom and often times are already 60-120 days old in the Super market!

You will find our eggs in a cooler at the stand but they are unwashed straight from the coop

Fresh, simple, and straight from the farm 🐓
