I am 16 years old and have grown up around animals my whole life. My dad ran a mobile petting zoo while raising farm fresh eggs averaging 150-200 birds at a time. My grandfather on my mom's side raised cows and farmed hay with my uncle. I never got tired of being around the animals, I wanted to be at my Pa's side every step he took. Knowing goats were my favorite, my dad bought me goats even after
closing down his petting zoo business. As I got older I would raise the goats, feed them, water them, vaccinate them, and go to County Office classes about caring for them. Today I still raise goats and sheep for myself. Only now I raise cows and hogs to go along with it, passing on the "locally sourced" to others by scheduling dates for people who want to buy a cow or hog from me for processing. When I don't have what is needed for my clients, I locate a cow or hog that I know has been pasture-raised (which may include grain-fed). I assure the cows & hogs I pass on are never fed growth hormones or other unnecessary supplements. I also haul to and from sales for hobby farmers who may not have trailers to transport.
