🚨🥚 EGG RECALL UPDATE — AUG. 15, 2026: Nearly 19 MILLION eggs recalled over Salmonella risk

If you have eggs in your refrigerator, especially if you shop at Kroger or Brookshire’s, take a minute and look at the carton.

The FDA announced the recall on July 15, 2026, and on Aug. 14, 2026, classified it as Class I, its most serious recall classification.

The recall covers 1,589,577 dozen eggs — more than 19 million individual eggs.

The eggs were produced by Midwest Poultry Services and include white eggs and brown cage-free eggs sold under several names, including:

🥚 Kroger
🥚 Simple Truth
🥚 Brookshire’s
🥚 Country Morning
🥚 Cal-Maine Sunups

The affected eggs have sell-by or best-by dates from July 20 through Aug. 17, 2026 and were distributed to stores and food-service customers in Texas and several other states.

⚠️ CHECK THE CODE ON THE SIDE OF YOUR CARTON.

The recalled eggs have plant code P-1950 or 0840962 and a Julian date from 157 through 184.

Federal health officials have linked the outbreak strain of Salmonella to 98 illnesses in 17 states, with 26 people hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.

If you have recalled eggs, do not eat them. Throw them away or return them to the store for a refund, and clean and disinfect anything that may have come into contact with them.

This is one of those posts worth sharing. Somebody scrolling past it may have one of these cartons sitting in their refrigerator right now. 🥚⚠️
