It's not just a buzzword. It's a strict Japanese grading system based on 4 factors:
1. Marbling (BMS 8-12)
2. Meat Color & Brightness
3. Firmness & Texture
4. Fat Color & Luster

Only the absolute best beef in Japan gets the A5 rating. Anything less is A4 or A3.
