Heating a house in Sweden versus a house in CA.
The woodburning fireplace might seem a little outdated but with the electricity prices so outrages right now, many people would be happy to be able to burn some wood to stay warm. In California, if it's chilly inside in the morning, just go outside in the sun and warm up for 30 min. Why are the houses so poorly insulated here? It can't be because it's warm all the time, cause it's not!
How do you heat your house, and where do you live?

Many have asked us what kind of a place Falkängen is, and it can be hard to explain. It is unique though and one of a kind.
Let's start from the beginning. Falkängen is the name of an area along a street with 8 stone houses built for workers in the late 1800's. It also consists of 13 other wood buildings that back then held a laundry facility, bakery, woodshed, garages, storage units and lots of outhouses. Each stone house had 8 living quarters, 4 larger downstairs for families and 4 smaller upstairs for bachelors. The "larger" units downstairs, that could house a family of 8, had one room and a kitchen. The upstairs units only had a room and a large closet.
We have an "apartment museum" that has been untouched since the last family moved out and it gives you an idea of what in might've looked like if you had lived there then. The black and white pictures are all from Falkängen.
Today Falkängen is a tourist destination with 7 handicraft stores, lodging, coffee shop, conference rooms and 4 museums.

It's been far between our postings, as we have been a little pre occupied these past 4 summers since we started working at Falkängen in Hällekis, Sweden.

It was supposed to be a temporary thing during the Summer of 2020, but little did we know that 2 years later, november 2022, we would be the proud owners of this lodging & craft village.

We had help running Swedish Sweets and More 2021 and 2022, but needless to say, we don't have time to run both businesses, but with that said, we want to let you all know that we do not want to lose all our faithful followers so please continue to follow us for many more updates in the year/years to come; tips, trips, pictures, news and much more.

Or why not come and visit us?! We are located in a beautiful part of Sweden with so much to see and do whether you're interested in history, culture or nature. Looking forward to some new connections in 2024!
