I am rested (kinda) and ready (sorta). The Watermen’s trailer is at the Calvert Marine Museum and the Roughwater will be too. I’ve got eels, crabs, and minnows. I even rescued a pair of horseshoe crabs from the clam boat this morning. Bring your little river goblins down to the museum and let them play in the kiddie pool with me. Bonus points for four legged river goblins. The Maritime Festival kicks off our 2025 tour season.

After each oyster set of oyster larvae, we hold about 20 shells back from going our on our lease in the river. From that, we can get an idea of how fast the oysters are growing. These oysters were put in the tanks at the Lore Oyster House on July 1. The load was moved to the lease on July 9. Today we can see they are actually oysters! More oysters in the Patuxent means cleaner water and local seafood. Two wins!! ❤️Solomons Calvert Marine Museum

We’ve been busy at the J.C. Lore Oyster House. Yesterday we set the first round of oyster larvae (almost oysters 🙂 ) in the tanks. If you want to follow the story of Lore Oysters, check out our blog.

Our 2024 tours are up and running! We have many options. This month we’ve booked an anniversary cruise, a family and friends cruise to Cove Point Lighthouse, a working watermen’s tour, and a girls day on the water. Give us a call (or text) and see what we can do for you! We can take up to 6 people and our Captain’s are US Coast Guard licensed. See you in Solomons.

Why do we run watermen heritage tours? It is about sharing the work that goes into harvesting fresh, local seafood. It is about outreach and advocacy. It meant alot to hear the dad tell his boys why he won’t put a rope cutter on the bottom of his sailboat. Thank you for respecting our gear. And thank you for letting us put smiles on the boys’ face
