Illinois farmstand owners—this funding opportunity may be worth a look!
The Illinois Department of Agriculture is preparing to open applications for **$1.8 million in Local Food Infrastructure Grants beginning November 2**.
This funding isn’t just for large operations. Eligible Illinois farms and food businesses may be able to use it for projects such as:
• Cold-storage equipment
• Refrigerated vehicles
• Commercial or shared kitchens
• Value-added processing equipment
• Food aggregation and distribution
• Other infrastructure that helps Illinois-grown products reach more customers
Individual projects may receive **$1,000–$75,000**, while collaborative projects involving multiple producers may qualify for as much as **$250,000**.
Most projects require a 25% match, although qualifying high-need projects may be exempt.
Important: Applicants must complete several registrations before applying, and that process can take two to four weeks. If you’re interested, don’t wait until November 2 to get started.
This opportunity is limited to eligible Illinois farms, businesses and organizations, so the American Farmstand Association itself would not be applying. We’re sharing it because helping farmstand owners find useful resources is part of our mission.
