Girona FC and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement for the loan of Marc-André ter Stegen, who will defend the red-and-white goal until the end of the season.
Club Statement:
Girona FC and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement for the loan of Marc-André ter Stegen, who will defend the red-and-white goal until the end of the season.

Born on April 30, 1992, in the German city of Mönchengladbach, Ter Stegen is a goalkeeper trained in the youth ranks of Borussia Mönchengladbach, a club with which he debuted in the Bundesliga at just eighteen years old. He quickly established himself as one of the most promising goalkeepers in German football thanks to his competitive maturity and consistent performance. His constant growth led him, in 2014, to sign for FC Barcelona, where he has developed most of his professional career.

During his time with the Blaugrana team, Ter Stegen has played 423 official matches and has been a key player in numerous collective successes, both in national and international competitions. The new red-and-white player has won, among others, one Champions League, six La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey trophies, one UEFA Super Cup, and one FIFA Club World Cup. His performance has consistently placed him among the most highly regarded goalkeepers in the world of football and has established him as a full international with the German national team.

As for his technical characteristics, Ter Stegen is considered a modern, complete goalkeeper with a great ability to adapt to different styles of play. He stands out for his excellent ball-playing skills, a fundamental aspect for teams that aim to build play from the back, as well as for his quick reflexes and reliability in close-range situations. Added to this is his good positioning in the area, reliability in aerial play, and notable tactical awareness, which allows him to anticipate the opponent's offensive actions. His personality and leadership are also an added value, as they help organize and instill confidence in the defensive line.

Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score for Barcelona but the La Liga leaders lost an incident-packed game at Real Sociedad. Match Report
The England forward equalised with a 70th-minute header in San Sebastian - his eighth goal in all competitions since joining on loan from Manchester United - to cancel out Mikel Oyarzabal's side-foot volley.

But Barcelona were on level terms for less than a minute before Goncalo Guedes scored what proved to be the winner.

In a pulsating game, Barca were awarded a penalty only for it to be overturned and had three goals disallowed, while Dani Olmo hit the post twice.

Fermin Lopez, Frenkie de Jong and Lamine Yamal all had goals ruled out for offside inside the opening half an hour before Sociedad captain Oyarzabal put the hosts ahead with a sumptuous finish in the 32nd minute.

There was plenty more drama to follow.

Barcelona thought they had won a penalty deep in first-half stoppage time when 18-year-old Lamine Yamal went down under a challenge by Igor Zubeldia.

The referee pointed to the spot before a VAR review resulted in the spot-kick being overturned because of another offside.

After Olmo hit the post in the 47th and 49th minutes, Barca substitute Robert Lewandowski had a header pushed on to the bar by goalkeeper Alex Remiro.

The visitors levelled when Rashford pounced seven minutes after coming on, before Sociedad went ahead again almost immediately through Guedes.

There was still time for Barca to hit the woodwork once more - with Jules Kounde's 85th-minute header crashing against the bar.

Sociedad finished with 10 men when Carlos Soler was shown a straight red for a late challenge on Pedri in the 88th minute, but survived nine additional minutes to beat Barcelona at home for the second successive season.

Barca's third league defeat of the campaign leaves them with 49 points from 20 games - a point clear of second-placed Real Madrid - while Sociedad have climbed up to eighth.

Senegal 1-0 Morocco: Gueye's winner in extra time hands Senegal 2nd AFCON title
3 hours ago / R47
Senegal beat Morocco 1-0 in an extraordinarily chaotic Africa Cup of Nations final, with Pape Gueye scoring an extra-time stunner after the Lions of Teranga had walked off the pitch and refused to play following the awarding of a late penalty. Africa Cup of Nations
1 - 0
Pape Gueye (94')
Brahim (90'+24' Penalty Missed)
Match Report

Brahim Diaz had the chance to win the trophy for the hosts with the final kick of regulation time, with the decision to penalise El Hadji Malick Diouf for dragging Diaz down prompting Senegal coach Pape Thiaw to lead his players back to the dressing room.

That spot-kick was awarded in the fifth minute of stoppage time but not taken until the 24th after Senegal's players returned, and Diaz's Panenka was easily caught by Edouard Mendy.

That set the stage for Pape Gueye's piledriver to clinch Senegal's second AFCON triumph amid a tempestuous atmosphere in Rabat, in what may have been Sadio Mane's final game at the tournament.

The first 90 minutes were relatively quiet, compared to the pandemonium that followed. Iliman Ndiaye and Nayef Aguerd missed big chances late in the first half, before Ayoub El Kaabi skewed wide from close range in the 58th minute.

A nasty collision between Diouf and Neil El Aynaoui left the latter with blood pouring from his head, and though he was able to continue, the eight-minute delay caused by the incident ensured there was a lengthy period of second-half stoppage time.

Senegal had the ball in the net in the first added minute, with Ismaila Sarr nodding in from beneath the crossbar after Idrissa Gueye's header bounced off the post, but referee Jean-Jacques Ndala had already blown the whistle for a soft foul on Achraf Hakimi.

Already incensed by that decision, Senegal were downright furious when Diaz won his late penalty, with bizarre scenes ensuing as Thiaw told his players to leave the pitch and Mane urged them to play on.

When play finally resumed, Diaz's chip barely left the ground and was gathered by Mendy, with the Real Madrid forward in tears as the final whistle sounded.

And Morocco's woes were compounded three minutes into the additional period, as Pape Gueye bundled his way to the edge of the box before firing a rocket of a shot into the far corner.

There was still time for Aguerd to head against the crossbar and Cherif Ndiaye to somehow shoot wide of a totally open goal, with the full-time whistle sparking wild celebrations among those in green.

Data Debrief: Gueye ends drought as Senegal reign supreme again

Somehow, some way, Senegal are champions of Africa for the second time, having defeated Egypt on penalties following a goalless draw in the 2021 showpiece.

Pape Gueye's blockbuster was actually the first goal the Lions of Teranga have ever scored in an AFCON final, having also lost on spot-kicks following a 0-0 draw with Cameroon in 2002, and gone down 1-0 to Algeria in 2019.

At the end of 120 (or more) minutes of drama, Senegal had fired off 14 shots, hitting the target with seven, and amassed 1.75 expected goals (xG). Morocco had 20 shots and 2.19 xG, but only hit the target three times.

OFFICIAL: Man City confirm 20-year-old Argentine midfielder Echeverri joins Girona on loan. Man City:

Claudio Echeverri has joined Girona on loan for the rest of the 2025/26 season, subject to international clearance.

The Argentine midfielder will now link up with our CFG sister Club after spending the first half of the campaign on loan in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old, who signed for City in January 2024 before remaining on loan at River Plate until February 2025, will join City team-mate Vitor Reis at the Spanish Club.

Echeverri has made three appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side - with his debut coming in our FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace at Wembley in May 2025.

A first goal for the Blues followed in the summer at the FIFA Club World Cup, when he scored a superb free-kick against Al-Ain before he was forced off with an injury at half-time.

He made 11 appearances for Leverkusen – six in the Bundesliga and five in the Champions League, although he remained on the bench for the German side’s visit to the Etihad Stadium.

Echeverri will now look to gain more first-team experience after completing his switch to Girona in La Liga.

MU team LEAKED over an hour before it was due to be announced
23 hours ago / autty
Michael Carrick's first Man United team was leaked over an hour before it was due to be released on Saturday morning. Dressing room leaks have been a recent problem at Old Trafford, with former boss Ruben Amorim said to have launched an investigation within the United camp after his full starting XI surfaced before they were due to face City in December 2024.

'I know that story,' Amorim said at the time. 'I don't know, I think it's impossible to fix nowadays because you have a lot of people in the club, the players talk with agents.

'I don't know, you can talk with friends, so it's hard to know. It's not a good thing but let's move on and go to the next one and see if they find the next starting XI.'
