I have never had goat before and wanted to try it so we bought Gus market goat back from the buy back at fair. He weighed around 95 lbs and was on grain for around 75 days. He was 6 months old. Last night I grilled up some goat chops. I seasoned 3 with olive oil,garlic, sea salt/pepper. And then one with just salt. And have to say it was Delicious!! Both ways!! We all tried it and even Beau who doesn’t like my goats said it taste good! So we will be adding goat to the menu here at the Storey house.

If needing corn finished beef. I have butcher date for Dec 22nd. At Russell’s Custom Meats in Canyon City Oregon. Have 2 beef still available. Can do whole or halves and possibly quarters if I get enough people interested. Great tasting beef!! Live weight will be around 1400 lbs. So if live weight is 1400 lbs. The hanging weight should be around 868. Gives ya a rough estimate.

Didn’t have any of our own cattle that was finished on grain this year so that left us with these two grass finished heifers. Finally got it picked up from butcher and Beau said let’s try the grass fed heifers. So here is 2 rib steaks (my favorite steak) and then 2 T-bone steaks. They look pretty good.

Apricot jam! Past week I have been fighting this cold and today was the first day that I could do some stuff without having to sit down every 5 mins. Still have about 15 lbs to cut up and make into more jam but will definitely be worth it this winter. PB&J are pretty popular around here!

I guess I shouldn’t call her a baby anymore since she had a calf this spring 🤣 but for not being halter broke she did real well in the halter today as long as I had a bucket in front of her 🤣 she likes her grain. Hoping next year I’ll be able to milk her this year just had way to much going on. So she just raised her heifer calf. Jewel is 50% jersey and 50% black angus.
