Iggy's Alive & Cultured We ferment & brew, small batch Beet Kvass & Honeybrew Kombucha, Pepper Sauce, Garlic Sauce, and more It is our mission to serve local living culture.

We craft the finest raw fermented food & drink on the market, where every one of our ingredients has a story, sourced not only organic & local with the season, but direct from farmers, wildcrafters & beekeepers we know & trust. We provide our region with beet kvass, herbal honeybrew kombucha, hot sauce & seasonal delicacies. We ferment all of our products in small batches using traditional method

s–never using pasteurization or preservatives, ensuring that Iggy’s foods are always raw, probiotic, healthful & delicious. We delight in the double meaning of the word culture, and see the revival of traditional cultured foods as playing a primary role in reclaiming our cultural identity, a remedy to modern day homogenization, sterility, and industrialization. As Sandor Katz reminds us, "microorganisms are never found in isolation; they exist in communities” -- “mixed cultures are the rule of nature.”

It is with this in mind that we say "Alone we rot. Together we Ferment!"
We are a grass-roots community company run by 'plant-people' who ferment with reverence in the spirit of the old-world Green Man mythological personification of natures' vitality, who enthusiastically proclaims, "I am thought of all plants!"

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your outpouring of support and appreciation has been so appreciated by the team. We know some of you were disappointed yesterday that we ran out of our menu, but the team has worked heroically to get ready to serve you on Saturday. If we're as busy as we were on Wednesday and Thursday, we'll probably run out pretty quickly, so if you're planning on a last CULTURED meal, arrive closer to opening! We'll have:

* Lamb and Falafel Gyros
* Kasha Grain Bowls
* smoked carrot soup
* Kimchi Waffle Fries!!
* Focaccia
* Sauerkraut Chocolate Cake

In addition there will be quarts of ferments, a few cans of honeybrew, a little more kvass on tap, and plenty of Hawthorn Rose on tap for growler fills and pours.

Iggy's beverages will continue to be on store shelves probably for a few weeks yet, we managed to stock up our wonderful local stores and our distribution partners.

You, our community of friends, have meant the world to us and made it worthwhile. We'll miss the connections we made over superb local food and ferments. Please patronize and support our local farmers: they are the ones doing the truly hard work to provide our community real food and steward the land.

Thank you so much for the love and support; we sold a weeks worth of food in one and a half days! Unfortunately that meant that some of you were disappointed to find we didn't have your favorite dish, and we're sorry for that.

Tomorrow/Friday we'll be open, but no menu items or prepared food: we'll be selling quarts of ferments, canned beverages, a few hot sauces that are left, and filling growlers.

Please keep checking out social media for news about Saturday: we're hoping to find some prep time to be able to offer a small menu on Saturday so that we can see those of you who weren't able to visit so far.

Again, our deepest gratitude to this beautiful community.

Dear Friends of Iggy's

Unfortunately, due to circumstances both long-term and recent, Iggy's must close its doors. CULTURED, our Farm-to-Fork Food Truck, is open one last week, Wednesday 1/14 through Saturday 1/17, Noon to 7PM each day.

THANK YOU for the opportunity you gave us to bring a vision of local, healthy, excellent food & drink. The outpouring of love and appreciation has validated the hard work to make this happen. Iggy's and CULTURED have been an incredible confluence of remarkable talent and dedication, and we have taken so much inspiration from our beloved local farmers and other vendors.

Unfortunately we've not been able to secure the additional investment, or a buyer for the company so we're left with no choice but to wind down the business. If you know of anyone who has always wanted to own a craft fermenting house in Kingston, send them our way :-)

Please come see us one last time at CULTURED if you can. We want to express our gratitude for the years of joy you've given us by serving you healthy local deliciousness one more time.

We will be serving a full menu (including the signature KimChi Waffle Fries), AND we'll have quarts of artisan ferments, growler fills & cases of Iggy's Honeybrew, other goodies, with special cash prices on some items.

Here's a hint of what will be on the menu, we'll keep serving until we run out:
* celeriac bisque
* carrot / kuri-squash coconut soup
* pulled pork with smoked prunes, cherry tomatoes over polenta
* Gyros, grain bowls, funky salad, kimchi waffle fries, sauerkraut chocolate cake

Dear Friends of Iggy's - THANK YOU for the opportunity you gave us to bring a vision of local, healthy, excellent food & drink. The outpouring of love and appreciation has validated the hard work to make this happen.

***Please come see us one last time at CULTURED if you can, Wednesday 1/14 through Saturday 1/17, Noon to 7PM.*** This is our way to express our gratitude for the years of joy you've given us over the past 14 years, and especially these last two years in our new Kingston home.

CULTURED is open today, and will operate on regular schedule next week 12-7pm Wednesday through Saturday. Our last day of operation will be Saturday, January 17th.

We will a typical delicious CULTURED menu, and we'll have plenty of cases of our kombucha, kvass and prepackaged vegetables for sale.

There will be special cash only pricing on our beverages and growler fills, bring your vessels to enjoy Iggy’s brews while you still can.

There are several gift certificates that were purchased but not used
We encourage you to come and use them before we close our doors.

You have been the key part of our story: we want to make this week an appreciation week for our customers who supported us for last two years.
All of you are the reason we gladly took this on and continued the work.

Many people have helped us on this path, and made it possible for us to accomplish great things. Unfortunately the combination of circumstances prevents us from sustaining those plans & dreams, and keeping up with the challenges that we're facing; without a big investment or new ownership, it's just not possible for us. We believe in the potential that we built. The right investment or new owner could make this work, but we haven't been able to make that match. If you or someone you know wants to own a fermenting house and the chance of sustaining an amazing brand and team of more amazing humans, please reach out.

We will be happy to see all of you next week and have a chance to say our goodbyes

"Dry January" doesn't have to be boring. With Iggy's craft Honeybrew and Kvass, you can choose to *add* something healthy and delicious instead of just *subtracting* alcohol. Iggy's botanical brews' wonderful aroma really pops served in a wine glass, and isn't out of place along side other alcoholic brews & drinks. The borshch is back! Ukrainian Borshch with local smoked plums and smoked pears. Pork shoulder slowly cooked into a savory broth base, beets, potatoes, onions, carrots, beans, cabbage, celeriac… all the good things, topped with our silky sour cream and fresh dill, of course no Borshch without freshly baked pampushka!

Our Story

Founded in 2012 on the shores of the Salish Sea on Bainbridge Island, Washington, Iggy’s was formed to honor the ancient history of fermentation, and the critical role it has played around the world in cultures and food systems for centuries.

We’re foodies, herbalists, artists, athletes, musicians, sci-fi fans, fishers and foragers, homesteaders, home-brewers, parents, backcountry-badasses, and fermentation freaks. We show up to work every day to craft the finest fermented foods and beverages on the market, and we love to share.

We approach fermentation as an art, and craft our products with traditional methods; never using vinegar, sugarcane, or preservatives. We extract all of our herbal and botanical essences in house, giving us us a high degree of control in balancing flavors and brew profiles and ensuring that every batch is as fresh as possible.

Iggy’s takes simple, organic ingredients, sourced locally and with the season, and transforms them into bioavailable, probiotic powerhouses that go far beyond simply tasting good.
