People in Greece consume more olive oil per capita than any other country, around 1L per person every 2 weeks. Within Greece, residents of Crete consume on average 1L per person every week.
Within Crete, the village of Kritsa is famous for consuming more olive oil than anywhere else in the world. It has a strong claim for the “Capital of the olive oil” title.
