It’s a very busy time here, while I’ve been busy picking berries and cherries the silvanberries have been going wild so it’s time to tie up that extra growth so I can get down the rows for picking later in Dec and the net will have to go over before the birds eat everything

Shahtoot mulberries are in season. Amazing flavour and a distinctly different taste between the red and the white. The white being a sweeter honey taste despite not being as attractive to look at especially as the oxidise with a brown colour very quickly though it doesn’t effect their taste

November has been a tough month for us as we said goodbye to both our dogs. First miss Trixie our little black and white girl who loved pottering around the house and then our beautiful red and white Jaffa who was my constant supervisor around the farm picking the fruit and flowers. They have been with us since the beginning of Harvest Hill and they have left a massive gapping hole in our family, they will never be forgotten

The Eastern Banjo Frog or Pobble Bonk Frogs are out in force this Spring. I’ve never seen so many active, usually we just hear them but when I sat quietly they all came out and continued on doing their thing. Sound on to hear their chorus. So pleased the dam is full for them and this year with no leak. There will be many tadpoles to come.

While we wait for the new season berries and fruit to come in we enjoy the citrus at this time of the year with Tahitian limes, grapefruit and both Navel and Valencia oranges (Valencia oranges are meant to be summer fruit but our trees don’t follow the text book)
