Thank you.

Thank you for choosing local when it’s easier not to.
Thank you for supporting a small, local business instead of a faceless chain.
Thank you for caring about where your food comes from, how animals are treated, and who you’re backing with your rands.

Regenerative farming — dream vs reality 🌱

Our dream is simple to explain, but not so simple to live:
let nature do the work.
No synthetic fertilisers. No pesticides. Trust the soil, the plants, the insects, the seasons.

In theory, it sounds easy.
In practice, it’s hard work asking for lots of patience. Sometimes frustrating.

But then you pause… and you see it.
Wildflowers everywhere.
Birds returning.
Life buzzing, crawling, flying, growing — all on its own.

Moments like these remind us why we chose this path.
Nature doesn’t need shortcuts. She just needs time. 🌼🕊️

Creating a legacy 🌱

When I first met Butch, he spoke my language straight away.
“Planting a tree is creating a legacy,” he said.

His passion was walnut trees — and it was contagious. In May 2024, I bought 120 little walnut trees from him and planted them at Happy Hen. They say a walnut tree takes about eight years to bear fruit. Legacy, it turns out, comes with patience. A tree grows in its own sweet time.

Butch passed away a few months ago. He was one of the gentlest souls I’ve known — humble, always smiling, and completely devoted to his beautiful garden… and his little babies: those walnut trees.

Every time I walk past them, I think of him.
Some legacies don’t shout. They grow quietly, take root, and keep giving long after we’re gone. 💚
