We are deeply humbled and filled with gratitude to receive an Honorary Doctorate in Agribusiness from Mulungushi University at a ceremony held today at Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

We dedicate this honour to Zambia’s hardworking farmers and to our national belief in agriculture as both a livelihood and a business.

When supported by knowledge and technology, farming is not merely a means of survival, it is a viable, wealth-creating enterprise.

Agriculture must continue to evolve through science and modern, smart farming practices such as climate-smart production, irrigation and water development, value addition, and agro-processing, among others. Innovation is not optional; it is the key to food security, resilience, and competitiveness.

Our young people must not view agriculture as backward, dirty, or a last resort. It is a life-changing investment, a modern industry that rewards creativity, intelligence, and innovation.

As we look to the future, we call on our universities to lead the way through advanced research, cutting-edge innovation, and strong industry partnerships, so that together we can transform agriculture and secure a prosperous future for our nation.

Hakainde Hichilema,
President of the Republic of Zambia.

*75-Year-Old Livingstone Man Appeals for Wheelchair Support*

A 75-year-old man from Livingstone is appealing to well-wishers for a wheelchair and financial support after losing his ability to walk due to broken legs.

Venus Nkinga, of Mosi-Oa-Tunya Ward, told ZNBC News that he became immobile following a fall that left his legs severely swollen and broken. He explained that the prospect of never walking again has completely changed his life, especially as he lives alone.

Meanwhile, Mosi-Oa-Tunya Ward Councillor Isaac Mukwati, who visited Mr. Nkinga’s residence to donate foodstuffs and crutches, has also appealed to well-wishers to come forward and assist the elderly man.
