From harvest to Silver. 🥈🌿

A few months ago, these oils were still part of our 2026 harvest.

There were long days, olives being picked and pressed, bottles to fill, labels to apply, orders to pack — and all the little jobs that come with running a small family business.

Then came a moment we’re still pretty proud of.

🥈 First Harvest — Silver
🥈 Lemon Press — Silver

Having one oil recognised would have meant a lot to us. Having two from this year’s harvest receive Silver medals feels pretty special.

Because behind those bottles is so much more than olive oil.

There’s our family. Our local grower. The people who help us along the way. And every person who has ordered a bottle, recommended us to a friend, stocked us on their shelves or simply followed along.

We might be a small family business, but moments like this make all of those behind-the-scenes days feel very worthwhile.

From harvest… to bottle… to Silver. 🥹🥈

Thank you for being part of it.

🔥 “You shouldn’t cook with extra virgin olive oil.”

It’s one of the biggest olive oil myths — and one we hear all the time.

The truth? Extra virgin olive oil isn’t just a finishing oil.

You can use quality EVOO for everyday cooking, including roasting, sautéing, baking and pan cooking. 🫒

And while smoke point gets a lot of attention, it isn’t the only thing that matters when we talk about how an oil performs under heat. EVOO’s fatty-acid profile and naturally occurring antioxidants also contribute to its stability.

So no, you don’t need to keep the good olive oil hidden away for salads and sourdough. 😂

Cook with it. Roast with it. Bake with it. Finish with it.

We’ve gone deeper into the science (without making it too science-y) in our latest blog:

Can You Really Cook With Extra Virgin Olive Oil?

Head to the link in our bio to read it. 🌿

COOK WITH US 🍽️ Crispy Garlic Smashed Potatoes

Golden, crunchy edges, fluffy centres and plenty of garlicky goodness. 🥔🧄

These crispy smashed potatoes are one of those simple sides that go with just about everything — and our Garlic Press does most of the flavour work for you.

Boil baby potatoes until tender, gently smash, drizzle generously with Garlic Press and season with salt + pepper. Roast until beautifully golden and crispy, then finish with fresh herbs and another little drizzle before serving. 🌿

Easy enough for a weeknight, but very worthy of a long spring lunch around the table.

Save this recipe for later — what would you serve them with?

You’ve probably seen the words “Extra Virgin” on countless bottles of olive oil—but what do they actually mean? 🌿

Extra Virgin isn’t just a marketing term. It’s the highest quality grade of olive oil and must meet strict standards.

To earn the name, the oil must be:
🫒 Mechanically extracted (never chemically refined)
🫒 Meet strict quality standards
🫒 Retain its natural flavour, aroma and beneficial compounds

At Adelaide Hills Harvest, every bottle is produced with these principles in mind—from carefully harvesting the olives to pressing them promptly and bottling with care.

Understanding what’s behind the label makes it easier to choose quality olive oil for your kitchen.

Every bottle we produce carries a little piece of our family’s story. 🇷🇸💚

Long before Adelaide Hills Harvest began, food was at the centre of our family’s life. Growing up with Serbian traditions, meals were never just about eating—they were about slowing down, gathering together and sharing simple, quality food around the table.

Those values still shape everything we do today.

From harvesting our olives early and pressing them quickly, to bottling each batch by hand, our goal has always been to produce olive oil we’d proudly serve to our own family.

Adelaide Hills Harvest is more than a business—it’s our way of sharing those traditions with yours.

If you’d like to learn more about the story behind our family and the traditions that inspired Adelaide Hills Harvest, we’ve shared the full journey in this month’s blog (link in our bio).

Thank you for supporting our family, our growers and our little business. It truly means the world to us. 💚

WE WON SILVER!! 🥹🫒🏆

Our First Harvest Extra Virgin Olive Oil has officially been awarded a Silver Medal at the 2026 Melbourne Royal Food & Beverage Awards

As a small family-run South Australian business, this one feels pretty special.

So much care goes into this oil — from the timing of the harvest, to pressing, bottling and eventually getting each bottle into your kitchen — and seeing First Harvest recognised amongst some incredible Australian olive oils is a very proud moment for us.

And most importantly, thank you to every single person who has ordered a bottle, told a friend, shared a recipe, sent us a message or supported Adelaide Hills Harvest.

We might have won the medal, but you’ve helped us get here. 🤍

Ever wondered why some extra virgin olive oils are cloudy while others are crystal clear? ☁️🫒

Freshly pressed olive oil is often cloudy because it still contains tiny olive particles and natural moisture. As the oil rests, these particles naturally settle, leaving the oil looking clearer over time.

Look for signs like:
🫒 A recent harvest date
🌿 Fresh, fruity aromas
🌶️ A pleasant peppery finish
💚 Careful production from grove to bottle

Our oils are bottled soon after pressing, which is why you’ll often notice their naturally cloudy appearance.

This is Olive Oil Academy #3, where we’re helping make extra virgin olive oil a little easier to understand—one lesson at a time.

What olive oil myth should we bust next?

18/08/2026

Long before a bottle reaches your kitchen, there’s a story behind every drop. 🌿

It starts in the olive grove right here in South Australia, where the olives are carefully harvested at just the right time. From there, they’re taken straight to be pressed while still fresh, helping preserve the vibrant flavour and natural characteristics of the oil.

After pressing, the oil is carefully stored before we hand-bottle, label and pack every order here at Adelaide Hills Harvest.

It’s a process built on care, quality and a genuine love for producing exceptional extra virgin olive oil.

From grove to bottle, we’re proud to share that journey with you. 💚

Have you ever tasted olive oil on its own? 🫒

Professional olive oil tasting isn’t about being fancy—it’s about appreciating the freshness, flavour and quality of what’s in your bottle.

Here’s the simple process:

🥄 Warm the glass in your hands.
🌿 Swirl gently to release the aromas.
👃 Smell for fresh, green notes like herbs, grass or tomato leaf.
🫒 Take a small sip.
💨 Draw in a little air to spread the oil across your palate.
🌶️ A slight bitterness and peppery finish are both signs of fresh extra virgin olive oil.

Next time you open a bottle, give it a try—you might notice flavours you’ve never picked up before.

Save this reel for your next tasting and follow along for more from our Olive Oil Academy series. 💚
