With just over a week to go until Targo St closes, we've been taking a trip down memory lane and looking back at some of the wild, wonderful and downright delicious specials we've created over the years.

From cob loafs and share plates to pizzas that probably shouldn't have worked (but absolutely did), we had a lot of fun pushing the boundaries of what a deli could be.

Here are a few absolute bangers from the archives 📂

What Targo St dish would you bring back for one more day?

Stories like these are our why 🩶

This is Jackson.

By looking at this photo, you wouldn't know that just four years ago he had an accident at McCoys Creek in Bundaberg, where he fell 3-5 metres and was left in a coma.

He was in hospital with a broken neck, broken ribs, punctured lung, a broken fibula and brain damage.

Before this, Jackson was a typical teenager living life like any other person his age. He now lives with an ABI (Acquired Brain Injury), but that hasn't stopped him from living his life.

Jackson joined the Deli just six months ago, and he's already shown amazing progress.

Jackson says, he loves meeting new people, disability or not. “Because I come from that background, I treat them how I would like to be treated, like any other person, disability or not.”

He also shared: “I’m so thankful to Hayley and Ashton for the opportunity to enter the workforce and work like anyone else. I think they are great people to be a part of the team and work for.”

His favourite item on the menu? The Cowboy Burger 🍔

A few of you have already approached us or messaged us about Jackson's amazing customer service, calling him a great asset to our company for the way he makes people feel welcome and cared for.

One customer said they "couldn't speak any more highly of this young man."

Of course, we totally agree. We passed the feedback on, and Jackson is so happy about it.

We're proud to have him on our team, and can't wait to continue to watch him grow.

After a lot of thought and some incredibly difficult conversations, we’ve made the decision to close our Targo Street Deli location, with our final day of trade being Saturday 13 June.

This hasn’t been an easy decision for us. Like many small businesses, the rising costs of doing business have made it increasingly difficult for us to keep this little Deli going the way we’d hoped.

What we want to say very clearly is this:
This decision is absolutely not a reflection of our incredible team at Targo Street. We're so proud of the people who have helped make this Deli what it is, and we’re so grateful that the majority of our staff will continue with us across our other locations.

While this chapter is closing, our business will continue through our other venues, including our Aquatic Centre café, university café and airport location.

Our Aquatic Centre café is fully open to the public, with convenient takeaway window service, so there’s no need to enter the centre itself. Our university café is also open and welcoming to everyone, not just students or staff.

To our Bundaberg customers and community, thank you. Thank you for every coffee, conversation, visit and bit of support over the last 7 years. We’ve genuinely loved being part of your daily routines.

We appreciate your support and understanding as we move into this next chapter 🧡💚🩶

(Re)introducing some of your favourites... Adam and Di.

Adam has been with us for 7 whole years and has recently finished his chef apprenticeship. We couldn't be prouder. You’ve probably seen him around Targo Street, but lately the Aquatic Centre has been lucky enough to steal him for a few days.

He loves working at The Deli because of the friendly team and opportunity to learn how to make a diverse range of food.

Adams favourite dish? The infamous Reuben Sandwich 🥪

Di is the friendly face you know and love at the Aquatic Café. She enjoys being part of the team and having a laugh with everyone. Di takes pride in creating a safe and welcoming environment where customers feel comfortable and want to return.

She loves chatting with customers and always makes sure everyone leaves happy with the service provided.

Her go-to? The American Hot Dog 🌭

Gosh, we're a lucky bunch.
