Two more sleeps until donuts are back

Donut wait or you might miss out!

Holy cow the donuts were popular so I’ve doubled the order for this week and will keep some aside for Sunday.

Donuts - Belgium double choc, caramel, chocolate, cinnamon, fairy bread, jam ball, passion fruit and vanilla slice.

Gluten free chocolate brownie

Custard tarts

Danish custard

Cinnamon morning bun

Croissant (plain or chocolate)

Bagels - blueberry (very W***y Wonka), plain, mixed, poppy.

I’ve also order bread from the same bakery - will see if it’s as good as the donuts.

The Captains Flat Markets on Saturday 1 August mark our 1st month of opening.

In that month we have received an endless stream of positivity, love and support from the town. So I wanted to reflect some back to you.

In that month being in the shop has shown me how the act of buying good and supplies provides a very direct insight into the love that exists within families.

I’ve watched dads rejoice at little apples because they are great for their child’s school lunch, mums buy apothecary herbs to make remedies for sick children, families come in so their children can have a lolly treat, stay at home parents having a venue to go to, adult children bringing their elderly parent in to make sure they have supplies.

We knew Mama Tierra would be good for community but it didn’t occur to me how much joy that seeing the love within families would bring to us. Captains Flat is a town of beautiful people.

I also wanted to say a massive Thankyou to Sandra Jalkanen who we couldn’t run the shop without her sunshine and leadership. And Ricky from the pub for his mentoring and help with deliveries. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

What’s new?

We’ll drop the winter hours to 3-6:30 (no longer 7) from Monday 20 July and extend when it’s a bit warmer and people are out a bit later.

We’ve been testing different suppliers each week. We don’t want to contribute to the cost of living crisis so we are looking for the suppliers with the best prices that we can pass on.

From next week our veg supplies will include practical shopping solutions like 1kg bags of onions or carrots and 5kg bags of potatoes.

I’ve discounted our veg range to make space - prices below.

We’ll also be selling meat products that will be vacuumed sealed on trays - it makes it last a lot longer in your fridge / freezer. Chicken, mince, sausages, bacon, steaks, chorizo, kranskys etc.

I’m focused on building our gluten free, pet and personal care range of products over the next few weeks.

By the kilo range
We buy a range of products in bulk and then use second hand jars or Kraft bags to sell them - or we can create the size you or fill your jars. Tea, spices, herbs, gravy (Maggi!!!), sugar, oats, flour, epsom salts, medicinal herbs etc.
