What we’re loving this week at Shane’s 🐚

Tiger Abalone from Three Friends Abalone in Stanley, Tasmania.

This beautiful farmed product is a hybrid of Greenlip and Blacklip Abalone, specially bred for its incredible quality and commercial sustainability — and the flavour speaks for itself. Sweet, delicate and buttery with that classic abalone texture chefs chase.

Even chefs like Analise Gregory are loving it, and once you try it, you’ll understand why.

With Mother’s Day this weekend, these are something really special to cook for Mum ❤️

Our favourite way?
Slice thin, tenderise lightly, then cook HOT and FAST in butter, garlic and a squeeze of lemon — only 30–60 seconds each side. Serve with crusty bread and a glass of wine and you’ve got restaurant-quality seafood at home.

🐟 This week Fish & Tip!

Don’t overcrowd the pan — your fish will steam instead of sear!

It’s one of the most common mistakes we see at home. When there’s too much in the pan, the heat drops and all that moisture has nowhere to go… so instead of getting that beautiful golden crust, your fish ends up soft and watery.

The fix? Simple
Cook in batches or have multiple pans and give each piece a little space. A hot pan + room to breathe = perfectly cooked fish every time.

Trust us, it’s worth the extra couple of minutes for that crispy, golden finish.
