Happy Father’s day to my dad Mate, and may you work till 100 and receive the letter from the Queen you always wanted lol. But atm it’s a King you don’t like haha.

Works hard every day as that’s what he loves doing and meeting new and old customers keeps him fit and healthy. We all love Dida Mate and cherish you.

Special mention to my father in law Peter may you rip and enjoy your real beers in heaven, as we all miss you every day.

May all the fathers and expecting fathers like my son Jake Tolich have a safe and happy day.

Poor Baba and Dida thinking they can sit back and chill enjoying retirement life. But nope as I’ve thrown them a curveball to get the little valley bakehouse back into the building the next 3 weeks.

Lots going on atm so I’ll apologise for all the big changes going on.

But we ontop of it as started getting the minor changes to carpark. Cycle parking area will be taking place. And the kitchen modern revamp to accomodate efficiency when we busier.

Plus on a happier note visited my hills farmers and their trees look fantastic so far . Cannot wait for summer apricots , plums , nectarines , peaches and persimmons. Usually season starts in November so not long to go.

Our fig trees look great as well as avocado and mango. Grape vines started shooting as well , so our undercover area will be pretty soon enough.

Purple not spray garlic looks like ready in 2 weeks so that’s a great thing to have for sale soon.

All this work is hard but needed as it’s better to do it when it’s not the super busy summer season.

Don’t forget Baba and Didas fresh market still open. Little Valley Bakehouse closed for 3 weeks getting refit sorted and upgraded to accomodate everyone.

Everyone has seen our progression in the last 4 years , and how far we have come to what we are today.

The first 2 years of constant heart ache , along with so many hurdles as to getting the right approvals for the market and cafe took its toll .

Another hard 2 years of testing our new business model to our customers market / cafe while constantly practising and expanding to get it all right.

Along the way we had health and age issues with myself and my family.

And also a constant reminder to myself along with Baba and Dida , that we could not operate the cafe / market / farm practically on our own was so impossible, but I and Baba and Dida pushed on.

So today’s news is letting all my customers be aware about The Little Valley Bakehouse decision , to close for the next 3 weeks as to get things right at our business premises , in relation to bigger ovens and a better designed kitchen to suit their needs.

The reaction since they opened was so huge , that we had been blown away by the sheer volume of new and old customers who embraced the new business model we had started. Their was no chance to ease into it at all as demand overtook supply day in day out. What a great problem to have in this environment, as the people in and around the Swan Valley could see how this would work together , and that it did.

Emma along with her husband and staff have done such a wonderful job so far and I too was so suprised , that I was not ready for this massive rush of new customers since my cafe was going to open in December for our busy season.

As of the last few days , I’m doing my bit to make your experience better and easier. I’m making the car park slightly bigger along with signage etc etc and will design a map to show other areas to park.

We also will be building a bike rack area for all the bikes out of the way of the traffic chaos . The tennis court , play area , we will be getting a fence to enclose the kids areas as well , along with shade sails.

Take stock of what the future will bring , make the tough decisions and get on with it for a prosperous long term future together.

Baba and Didas still open , Little Valley again in 3 weeks

Baba and Didas Fresh Market located 2540 West Swan road Caversham , and open winter every Friday , Saturday and Sunday from 7.30 am to 1.30 pm.

The next month we will be flat out planting 3000 new seedlings which will include the following ,

Watermelons seedless and seeded
Rockmelons 2 varieties
Xmas melons green striped
Honeydew golden
Butternut and J*p pumpkin
Cucumbers conti , Lebanese
Chillies , paprika , zucchini
Roma and round tomato
Cherry and grape tomato
Tomato ox heart and heirlooms
Beetroot , silverbeet , leek , cabbages

And a few other things which includes other fruit and veggie to many to mention or remember.

Special update on our non spray purple Croatian garlic not Italian lol ready September about a tonne or so will be for sale.

Our beautiful sweet as bro , pink Croatian onions lol ready November , and they sell out like hotcakes.

Please continue to support local Swan Valley farmers like the Tolich family who have been living and working in the beautiful Swan Valley for 50 years.

Just had to get on the Melon gate saga with my cheeky post.

Don’t worry we planting our sweet farm fresh melons in spring again , so plenty melons for everyone.

Been so busy planting thousands of new seedlings , as well as weeding and looking after vineyard the last few weeks. Rain coming so please do but not this weekend lol.

Also cleaning up around the property again , as well as getting the new bakehouse and cafe ready for this weekends long awaited launch.

Many customers have been calling me and sending messages and asking why would I hand over a successful cafe to another business? The answer is so simple , as I could not run a busy farm , cafe and events without giving something up. The cafe was good but wasn’t great , and I did realise that the only way to improve our business model was to give the opportunity to Little Valley Bakehouse. It’s the best fit and collaboration the Swan Valley was looking for , as I was as well.

More time to plant and farm , and sell more fruit and vegetables and , also plan to do more events again as I still have that passion to do a better job and improve in all areas.

Looking forward to the future with Emma owner of Little Valley Bakehouse bringing her passion and energy to fruition this weekend.

So , I along with Baba and Dida wish her all the luck and best wishes to have a successful business side by side with us.

Hurrah for cooler weather and a bit of rain, as needs to be moist while we continue to plant our garlic and winter vegetables.

So we have finished planting our purple garlic , leek , bok choy , cabbage , broccoli,broccolini, silverbeet, parsley ,beetroot , kale, spinach , cauliflower and other veggies in 2 of our garden areas on our Swan Valley farm.

Thankyou to our 2 wonderful customers David and Joanna for helping myself , Baba and Dida , as it’s not easy doing it all by hand and bending over for so long.
