The home of Cooroy Grass Fed Meats is my late grandparents home farm, my mum and uncle Brian grew up on the farm, the farm passed to my uncle Brian. Brian has stepped aside from management of the farm allowing the next generation to approach farming from a different angle. After leaving school I had the privilege of farming with my grandparents and uncle; an old school education in beef cattle and
small crop production. After leaving the farm in 1992 my wife and I started a family and I started a career as a National Park Ranger, after raising our two boys Jacqui returned to the fashion & dressmaking industry. Now we are back on the farm and the mission is to change from market sale vealer production to retailing high quality packaged meat directly from the farm. Our cattle are born, bred and weaned on farm, grazed rotationally on fresh re-mineralised pasture. We believe that grain is not a natural food for cattle, but we understand the nutritional value of grain, this is why we have adopted sprouted barley as a means of finishing steers to a consistent standard. Barley grain is germinated and grown for 5 days producing a dense root mass and lush green leaf growth. The barley sprout/plant is highly digestible, rich in protein, enzymes' & energy. We also supplement our cattle with natural minerals ensuring the growing animals lack nothing in their nutrient requirements. The eating quality of our Beef is due to perfect food combined with a relaxed life and genetics which produce animals with great muscle structure and eating quality.
