How to Glaze the Perfect Christmas Ham
Today’s lesson at Uncle’s Glaze School is all about mastering the ultimate Christmas centrepiece 🎄
Our model student? A 4kg boneless ham.
Step 1: Undress the Ham
Carefully remove the net.
Next, gently peel off the rind (skin), taking your time, you want to keep that beautiful fat layer intact.
Step 2: Score Like a Pro
Using a sharp knife, score the fat layer.
You can go with strips or diamonds, we’ve chosen the classic diamond pattern for maximum glaze coverage.
Step 3: Clove Couture
Press a whole clove into the centre of each diamond. Not just festive, it adds incredible aroma and flavour.
Step 4: Glaze Selection
Choose your glaze.
Today’s winner: Uncle’s Honey Mustard Glaze 🍯
Brush it generously over the entire ham.
Step 5: Into the Oven
Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Allow 30 minutes per kilo of ham.
For our 4kg ham, that’s 2 hours total cooking time.
Step 6: Glaze, Glaze, Glaze
Throughout cooking, keep glazing, about 4–5 times is perfect. This builds that glossy, caramelised finish we all love.
Step 7: Showtime
Once done, bring it straight to the table.
