Cliffy’s is humming along nicely today. There may be a short wait for a table, but we promise it’s well worth it. While you’re waiting, José is keeping good company with a little piano accordion.

We’re thrilled to introduce our new Head of Atmospheric Conditions, Cliffy’s Emporium’s most important hire to date.
After years of quietly suffering through suboptimal crema caused by the microclimate at the corner of Wombat St, we’ve finally done something about it. Jim joins us from the Bureau of Meteorology, where they spent 17 years forecasting conditions across regional Victoria.
They will be responsible for monitoring barometric pressure, humidity, and the specific wind interference pattern that comes off the lake and ruins a perfectly good espresso extraction.
We take your flat white seriously.

A big thank you to everyone pictured here – and the many who aren’t – who helped bring Cliffy’s at Christmas to life.

Just over a week on, we’re still riding the high of what our community pulled together. Between the Christmas fundraiser at Cliffy’s and the Daylesford Hotel’s Friday night community raffles throughout December, a total of $42,528 has now been raised for our local Country Fire Authority brigades. Of that, $37,428 came from Christmas at Cliffy’s alone.

Volunteers turned up before most of the town was awake, gave up part of their Christmas morning, and quietly got on with the job. Coffee machines humming, BBQs firing, raffle tickets moving fast, queues managed with patience and good humour. It all ran because people stepped forward and looked after one another.

To our CFA volunteers, thank you for the work you do year-round to protect our region. Being able to support you in this way is something we’re incredibly proud of.

To everyone who volunteered, donated prizes, bought tickets, grabbed a coffee, or cheered us on from the sidelines – this was a genuine community effort, and it wouldn’t exist without you.

This year’s Christmas at Cliffy’s CFA Fundraiser raised an incredible $37,428 for our local CFA brigades. Through the Christmas raffle and opening our doors on Christmas morning for coffee, BBQ and ham rolls, a few mimosas, and plenty of good cheer, the community well and truly showed up.

Across December, the Daylesford Hotel Friday Night Community Raffles added a further $5,100, bringing the total raised and donated to our local fire brigades to $42,528.

What made it special wasn’t just the number (though it’s a bloody good one). It was the people. A huge cohort of volunteers gave up their Christmas morning to arrive early, work hard, and make it all happen calmly, generously, and with smiles on their faces.

From early-morning queues to the final raffle draw, this was community spirit at its absolute best. Huge congratulations to all of our raffle winners, and heartfelt thanks to everyone who volunteered, bought a raffle ticket, donated a prize, popped in for a coffee, or supported from afar.

Be safe, be merry, and we look forward to seeing you again when we reopen on December 27
