Going through perimenopause has taught me a lot.

Your sleep can change.
Your energy can change.
Your workouts can feel different.

I find skin just fascinating .

As I looked at the past week in clinic , I really wanted to demonstrate how many different causes and drivers there can be when it comes to a skin rash!

Here is just a few examples of the causes of my clients skin rashes this week:

✅topical steroid withdrawal can be a major cause of skin rashes getting worse
✅a nasty parasite identified in a Northern Territory client who works on the land
✅airborne allergens
✅stress and post traumatic stress
✅fungal infestations
✅diet can have a large role to play
✅autoimmune disease eg ulcerative colitis
✅viruses such as herpes can flare into eczema herpeticum

My past week is a great example of how you need to dig deep and find the cause of the skin rash/eczema/dermatitis.

Putting a lid on the rash using creams such as steroids only really suppresses the symptoms .

Deep dive work is often needed in many of these cases.
