We'll try this again!!!
It's FRIDAY evening and tomorrow's market is almost set!
We once again have an amazing line-up of ultra fresh produce available Saturday, organic pomegranates are still in season and we will have cold pressed pomegranate juice available freshly squeezed at 4am.

Local certified organic navels and their juice will be on tap, again, cold pressed on site. Kumquats are still in season, best eating imperial mandarins are in stock at $2.99/kg, our unique organic mini Roma cherry-truss tomatoes, heritage tomatoes, Purple Sapphire potatoes (the purple inside ones) and thick skin Russet organic potatoes (the best for baked "jacket" potatoes ones) are in stock.

Hull River organic bananas, Eldridge Farms organic celery, and a whole host of fresh organic products that you won't get anywhere else (think eight varieties of certified organic potatoes, apple cucumbers, three types of sun-dried fruits dried on the farm by the farmer himself, white, pink, and purple chips, potatoes grown and kettle cooked on the farm by the farmer himself), plus a whole host of other unique fruit and veg will be at the market (Jerusalem Artichoke for one)!

And don't forget the best eating certified organic "lunchbox" apples (Pink Lady and Gala) that we have available for sale, again, unique to us.

And is anyone up for some Belgium Endive? We have it! Or Witloof Chicory? Again, we have that too!

Spotlight on one of our fave suppliers, The Stock Merchant, and in particular, their ethically sourced tinned fish. The Stock Merchant's tinned fish range is a complete range of wild caught MSC Certified tuna, sardines, anchovies, and mackerel, hand filleted and hand packed in Portugal from wild catch sustainable fisheries. Their fish are packed in either Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or pure water, and are the absolute best quality.

And an exciting new addition to their seafood range is their tinned wild Alaskan Salmon, wild caught, MSC Certified, and, preserved in Organic Olive Oil or pure water!

As we are the only stockists of The Stock Merchant products on the Peninsular, the good news is that we do have their full range available every Saturday morning, however the better news is, we are fifty cents to a dollar cheaper per tin than Harris Farm!!!

It's June long weekend and the first winter market of the year and we are open tomorrow!! Come in for a full range of the usual local organic fruit and veg, citrus season is now in full swing, so mandarins are plentiful at $3.90/kg, organic navels 🍊 are in stock at $4.90/kg as is organic orange juice 🍹, oranges from central mangrove! Pink fleshed navels are picking and are meant to be a healthier alternative.

We have three varieties of organic sweet potatoes available tomorrow, Gold, Hawaiian, and Japanese, gold outside and gold inside, white outside and purple inside, and, purple outside and white inside, respectively! Hmmm, I'm confused!!

Don't forget our dried plums, nectarines, and apricots, dried on the farm by the farmer in Shepparton, Victoria.

Local sourdoughs will be delivered in the morning still hot from the oven, including local organic loaves, get your spelt sourdough here too. And speaking of spelt, (the best), don't forget our The Stock Merchant organic spelt pasta....the best. Did I say that already??? And we also carry Brasserie Bread certified gluten free sourdough loaves, oh, and their garlic bread.....

Organic free range eggs that were laid this morning have been packed and will be available tomorrow, you can't get fresher!

It's Friday evening and hopefully everyone is relaxing....or out having fun!! Tomorrow's market is prepped, and we finally have freshly squeezed certified organic orange juice available, cold pressed on site. Our organic oranges are sourced directly from Central Mangrove, and maybe the thing that's best of all is, they have all been picked today!!! You can't get fresher than that!!

There is a limited amount of organic pomegranate juice available tomorrow as well, in 350ml containers, cold pressed at 5am.

Delicious Imperial mandarins are plentiful at $3.90/kg, Cotton Candy grapes are in stock, as are organic avocados, the usual full range of organic potatoes (eight different varieties available, including the amazing Peruvian Gold and Purple Sapphire, that you will not get anywhere else!!!) are on!

Breaking!!! We will soon have available (hopefully this weekend), freshly squeezed organic orange juice , squeezed right here on site, as you watch!!! Organic oranges 🍊🍊will be supplied directly from Peats Ridge/Central Mangrove, and juice will be available in ready to drink 350ml containers, and take home 1L and 2L containers. Also available will be fresh squeezed pomegranate juice, depending on availabilty! Stay tuned for further updates!!!

Market update! We are open as usual tomorrow with the hall full of ultra fresh locally grown produce! Eldridge Farms Certified Organic "Colourful Caulis" are back in stock, in purple, green and yellow. Chestnuts are still picking and we have the large Bouche variety available, grown in Victoria.

It's naval season, imperial mandarins are the best atm, and kumquats have finally started picking.

Spaghetti squash (yes, a squash that turns into spaghetti when cooked!) have just started picking and if you're not familiar with these amazing vegetables, come in and ask Andrew for a rundown!

Fresh roasted peanuts, macadamias, Victorian walnuts, and just picked pecans from the Hawkesbury region are in stock.

Local sourdoughs will be again delivered straight from the oven, still hot, and it's so hard not to tear into them at 6am....

We have two new flavours of olives direct from the olive farm at Laguna, Green Sicilian Style and Bush Herbs and Spices, come in for the best olives and oils ever, all packed in glass.

Here's a perfect example of some of our amazing heritage that I just happened to come across! Although I haven't seen one of these tables before, it bought back memories of how, as a teenager, and younger, I milked a house cow on the farm every morning before school. It's hard these days to imagine that at Peats Ridge back then, which is just up the road now, we didn't have shops, home deliveries, didn't go to "town" that often, and therefore had to grow a lot of our own food, hence the need for a house cow. I still have an old butter churn under the house, and all of the old Vacola jars that the amazing women in our family used to preserve the seasonal food that we grew on the farm, that was in abundance at the time, to be used later.

It's Mother's Day weekend and your market is ready to go! The usual range of well priced best quality produce will be available, certified organic, spray free, and conventional.

Jujubes are still in season with all of their amazing health benefits, tasty imperial mandarins 🍊 are in full swing, easy to peel, juicy and full of goodness. Dried apricot 🍑, plum, and nectarine, all dried on the farm in Shepparton Victoria will be available.

Don't forget organic Medjool dates, fresh roasted Aussie peanuts, organic lunchbox apples, organic sweet corn (don't mind the little caterpillar in the top, he doesn't eat much 😀), custard apples are still in season, and fresh local sourdoughs 🍞 delivered still hot straight from the oven, the best!!!

Potatoes available tomorrow are Sebago, Kipfler, Dutch Cream, Chats, Kestrel, King Edward, Russet, Peruvian Gold, and Midnight Pearl the incredible purple potato with purple flesh, all certified organic!

And Broken Bay Scout Group will be onsite tomorrow with their annual fund raising event selling Mother's Day flowers, they are great people who give a lot of time to the community, including allowing our market to happen, so please come and support them by buying some flowers for your much loved mother's for Mother's Day!!! The Scouts will also have available hand crocheted rugs and pillows (made by local ladies, absolutely beautiful), so come down and have look!

We have a News Flash, and it's all good news!!!

Peruvian Gold potatoes are in season and will be available at your favourite Farmer's Market this Saturday! These amazing potatoes originate in the foothills of the Andes and in our opinion are second only to Mayan Twilight, our absolute favourite potato of all time! (Side-note, Mayan Twilight are a direct descendant, actually one under, the original Phureja potato that started it all, but more on that later).

Peruvian Gold have a golden yellow skin and deep yellow, creamy flesh. They are buttery, rich, and earthy, perfect for roasting, mashing, smashing, and baking due to their fluffy and slightly waxy texture. They are not particularly suited for chipping.

They are spectacular in dishes such as Potato Chorizo Hash (Chica Chica's was the best), Peruvian style Grilled Chicken, or why not try some more traditional dishes like Causa Rellena, Papa a la Huancaina, or Papa rellena?
