Why whisk your matcha with a bamboo whisk? 🍵
There’s a reason the traditional bamboo matcha whisk (chasen) is still the go-to way to prepare matcha.
Made from fine bamboo tines, the whisk helps break up clumps of matcha and evenly suspend the fine tea powder throughout the water. This creates that smooth, creamy texture and beautiful layer of froth on top.
Unlike stirring with a spoon, whisking with a bamboo chasen creates hundreds of tiny movements that properly incorporate the matcha, rather than leaving powder sitting at the bottom of your cup.

For the best cup, sift your matcha into a bowl, add a small amount of hot (not boiling) water, then whisk briskly in a “W” or “M” motion until frothy. Add more water, whisk again and enjoy.

We’re celebrating Dry July with our range of non alcoholic drinks including the range of shrubs from Pyewackets Traditional Drinks

What is a Shrub?
Add a splash of shrub to water for a nutritionally dense and wildly delicious drink.

Using a method that goes all the way back to the Middle Ages, shrubs are fresh seasonal fruit and herbs that are preserved by fermentation in vinegar. Our shrubs are made the same way they would have been 500 years ago, by cold pressing and juicing whole produce and using homegrown and foraged herbs. They are made by hand, in small batches, without using heat to pasteurise or preserve.

In other words, a shrub is a kind of cordial that can be added to sparkling water to make a delicious and nutritious botanical soda.

Find them in our fridge at Sandy Bay 🍹
