Marcus Vermey is a third generation butcher. His father Bill was even born above the family butcher shop in Holland. Marcus' father together with his grandfather, established Vermey's Quality Meats in Sandy Bay in 1964. Marcus purchased and commenced running Vermey's Quality Meats on the 1st of July 1997. By that stage he had already proven himself a top quality butcher by winning the Australian Work Skills Competition in 1992-93 and participating in an Australian Meat and Livestock Corporation exchange to Japan in 1995. He is the Tasmanian Chairman for the Australian Meat Industry Council and on the committee for the National Australian Meat Industry Council. Marcus Vermey helps teach master classes at the Agrarian Kitchen. Rodney Dunn in his book ' the agrarian kitchen' described Marcus Vermey as '..my go-to man for all things meat.' Congratulations Jess Bartles you are a wonderful ambassador for the meat industry 🙌

Introducing our newest ABG Ambassador, Jess Bartles! 🥩

Jess's butchery story started the way the best ones often do: working weekends for her brother at his shop in northwest Tasmania. After finishing school, she turned those weekend shifts into a full apprenticeship, eventually heading south to Hobart to complete her trade.

What draws Jess to the industry is the same thing that makes it great: the people. She values how supportive and close-knit the butchery community is, regardless of whether you've got two decades under your belt or you're just starting out.

As an ambassador, Jess is keen to be a resource for industry newcomers and a bridge between Tassie and the wider Australian butcher community, swapping ideas with fellow ambassadors across the country and flying the flag for Tasmania.

Welcome to the team, Jess! 👏

Congratulations Kerby and Jesse your message was heart warming and inspirational.

The work through Pathways Tasmania is helping people to transform their lives by providing help to overcome drug addiction.

A true privilege to be amongst so many positive and loving people.

On behalf of the Premier Jeremy Rockliff and Health Minister Bridget Archer I thank all who support this wonderful project 🙌

How lucky are we to have such an amazing person a part of our team 🙌🏻

A fantastic event was pulled together by Tas TAFE to recognise and celebrate Tasmania's achievers, and it was great to see Courtney Byrne recognised among them.

These graduates really are the future of our industries and communities, and it's exciting to see what's ahead.

We're incredibly proud of everything you've accomplished, Courtney. Here's to you all and all the other students putting in the hard work and making it happen.

Huge congratulations to Oscar Campbell on his hard work, dedication and effort in competing in this year’s National Apprentice of the Year competition organised through Australian Meat Industry Council - National 👏

As the winner of the Tasmanian competition, last week Oscar went up against the top apprentices from around Australia. As a second year apprentice, he did an outstanding job and represented Tassie proudly.

We’re incredibly proud of you, Oscar.

A big thank you to AMIC for putting together such a fantastic event. It was a great watch seeing so many young people get involved, have a crack, showcase their skills and represent their state.

Congrats to all the other competitors involved as well. The future of our industry is definitely in good hands 🙌
