It's been a soggy start to the season, but it's well and truly here. If you’re setting up new hives or doing the yearly gear check, we’ve stocked up on all the beekeeping essentials at our Huonville store. We've got everything you need to start from scratch if you're new to the game, boxes, bases, frames. We also have a range of bee suits, gloves, smokers, feeders and a whole heap more. Lask week at Lake Pedder during the harvest, Nat, Will and Dan found frame after frame of beautifully drawn out comb. A super rewarding sight after lots of prep and hard work from the field team and the bees.

Most of this we'll extract and bottle up but we've saved some especially beautiful frames to cut up for honeycomb. It's pretty special that this can be in the beehive one day, and on the shelf the next. Doesn't get much more pure than that.

How do our bees get to Bruny Island? They take the ferry like everyone else! Don't worry though, they're tucked up safe inside the hives until they arrive at their destination 🐝🐝🐝

Earlier this week, Will dropped off this of load of bees at Hagley. Beautiful healthy hives ready to pollinate some seed crops. It was an early start but worth it when you can catch a sunrise like this 🌅🐝

Nat showing off a beautiful looking brood pattern late last week. The light brown half sun pattern contains some fresh brood laid by the Queen, she lays in this pattern for protection and warmth for the new babies 🐝🐝🐝

Thankyou to all the clever kids that entered our school holiday colouring competition! We loved seeing all the beautiful artworks displayed in our stores over the school break. After much deliberation, the honey kids have chosen our winners! 🐝🐝🐝
