It’s sad and, at times, truly disheartening, (please read on)
In a world where success seems to be measured in likes, follows and algorithms… this post isn’t about any of that.
Whether this post reaches thousands of people or just a handful, what matters most to us is helping shine a light on a very real issue impacting Australian beekeepers right now.
This is REAL.. Our reality!
This is not a paid ad for attention, we will never pay for "likes"
This is not manufactured “content”.
We are real beekeepers experiencing real losses, real stress, real financial pressure, and real emotional exhaustion as we watch healthy hives collapse from Varroa Mite and Small Hive Beetle.
Last week, our daughter (our Junior Beekeeper) arrived home from school and found dead and dying bees at the edge of our home apiary and she was devastated. This week, despite continued intense management and support efforts, we have had to report further hive losses both here at home and a couple of our satellite apiaries.
There is no denying that this is one of the most challenging periods Australian beekeepers have ever faced. Behind every hive lost is years of work, genetics, resilience, and an enormous emotional and financial investment. Our bees are not just livestock to us, they mean so much more!
While the pressures on our industry continue to grow, one thing we will never compromise on is our commitment to keeping our hives free from synthetic chemicals. Our pest management includes multiple fronts of attack. Not using synthetic and dangerous chemicals means more hours and labour fighting this infestation through natural and mechanical methods......there is no one way to beat this mite!
We know this path is harder and expensive. We know it may mean lower production, greater losses, and more difficult decisions along the way. But we remain committed to producing pure, natural honey and caring for our bees in a way that aligns with our values and our integrity.
To our fellow beekeepers doing it tough right now — we see you, we feel your pain but we have to keep going!
