On the weekend we were privileged to participate in the Plantation Feast during the Gascoyne Food Festival.
Wow...what a gastronomer's delight it was! Every morsel was a taste sensation - a real credit to the quality produce of the Gascoyne and the expertise of chef Jessica Roe.
All of our senses were stimulated.
Initially, we followed the beautiful melody of the violinist to direct us to the area where the feast began.
Then we were treated with a visual display of Carnarvon produce artistically arranged, and Golden organza materials gracefully draped above the long table, billowing in the breeze.
Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly TAFE students with amazing horsdoeuvres such as Caprese Bite and Smoked Spanish Mackerel Tart with Custard Apple Relish. We were also given a welcome drink, decorated with Geraldton Wax, to wet our whistle.
The mouth-watering entrees were Whalebone Lighthouse Lager Bread served with caramelised onion lebneh; Seared Shark Bay Prawns, mango gel, charred sweet corn salsa and fresh herbs (including our rocket); Bookara Dairy Whipped Feta, grilled zucchini, roasted walnuts, pomegranate balsamic, fresh herbs and cassava crackers.
Our taste buds weren't disappointed with mains consisting of succulent Slow-cooked Mundillya Lamb Shoulder accompanied by Cuban Oregano Chimchurri; Baked Gascoyne Pink Snapper with Lemon Potato, delicious Grilled Green Asparagus with herb pangrattato and bearnaise; and Petition Roasted Pumpkin.
This was finished off with the Piece de Resistance Black Sapote Caramel Banoffee Tart
a taste upon taste sensation lovingly designed and made by P**n from Sweeter Bananas .
The Mango White Profiteroles were also another refreshing tropical sensation.
Throughout the day we were entertained by the vivacious Alex Crisp who did an outstanding job of MCing the day's proceedings, and interviewing some producers in a light-hearted relaxed ambience.
Chris and Sherry took us on a trip down memory lane with their rendition of Eagle Rock and a repertoire of other catchy songs. We were blessed again with the beautiful melody of the violinist as we consumed our desserts.
It would have been a logistical nightmare to organise for many of us, however, the very talented Louise Cashmore collaborated with everyone to co-ordinate and present a remarkable experience for everyone.
It truly was an incredible experience to be a Product Partner and have the opportunity to network with other producers in a relaxed atmosphere.
Thankyou Gascoyne Food Festival and everyone involved.
