We all have good intentions of creating nutritious, hearty meals at home, but we’re either too darn busy or just don’t have the skills. If you fall into either of those categories, then you need Amore Bodega in your life, stat. West End is the first Brisbane based Market & pop up shop for popular Gold Coast Chef Joanna Caldwell-MacLellan, who is renowned for her delicious take-home meals. At West
End Market ~ Amore’s new city space you’ll find fridges full of Joanna’s weekly creations – from Mamma Jo’s Jewish Chicken soup to the hearty Italian Wagyu beef Stufato, and French style Chicken Chasseur. There are also salads, frittatas, desserts, yoghurts (regular and vegan), Paleo meals and more – all there waiting for you to take home. Every single thing you see, from the soups to the tubs of hummus and the vanilla-bean coconut-milk vegan yoghurt, is made from scratch – 90% gluten free and there’s not an ounce of refined sugar in sight. I have been a chef for over 30+ years, training initially within French cookery; I have owned my own restaurants since I was 19 years old. In 2006 I was diagnosed with a incurable kidney disease and was extremely ill for 2 years, facing death many many times. I was told I could not Chef anymore as the adrenaline/stress would kill me, it was the most stressful upsetting time of my life. I became quite a recluse and was struggling in every direction. In 2007 a friend suggested I start making my sauces & fresh Pasta to sell at a market, it was a ruse initially to get me back into the world again, ........ it worked !! I started trading at the markets in 2007 in Sydney’s Fox Studio’s farmers market in the city. I found that I could cook in a production kitchen without the stress of an a la carte situation!! It was and is a revelation, keeping my passion for what I do as strong as ever!! My laughter returned and I was back to my old self again !! In 2013 I moved from Sydney to the gold coast and continued doing what I love to do!! Building a huge client base and cooking yumminess for everyone!! In 2020 due to the debilitating stress and restrictions of covid I moved my business and myself to Brisbane for a fresh start !! I am so looking forward to the future and building a brand new client base in the big smoke!! Thank you for reading
