The Sweetest Bite

By using The Sweetest Bite you agree to be bound by all following Terms and Conditions. We reserve the right to refuse the sale of goods or services or to cancel an order under certain circumstances.

Booking

A minimum of three (3) months notification is preferred for all Wedding cakes, allowances will be made for late enquiries based on availability. For all other orders a minimum of four (4) weeks notification is preferred, allowances will be made for late enquiries based on availability.

Deposits

For any booking to be confirmed a 50% non-refundable deposit is required within three (3) days of receiving a written quote. Payment is due via bank transfer into my chosen account. Full upfront payment is to be made via bank deposit if an order is placed less than 2 weeks before the required date. No work will begin on any order without a deposit being received. Non-payment of a deposit may result in the date being offered to a new client.

Confirming Orders

Once an invoice is sent please ensure all details, personal information, names, delivery/collection dates and times and any changes are correct and that all corrections needing to be made are done so in writing as soon as possible.

Balance Due

Balance payment for all orders are due via bank deposit only, no later than two (2) weeks prior to collection/delivery date for wedding orders and no later than ten (10) days for all other orders. A reminder will be sent if balance has not been received at this time. Failure to make payment following the reminder may result in cancellation of your order and the deposit being retained as compensation for ingredients and equipment purchased for the order.

Cancellations and refunds

You place an order with the knowledge that deposits are non-refundable. If an order is cancelled the deposit is forfeited. If an order is cancelled 7 days prior to collection date all monies paid are forfeited as a result. The deposit may be transferred to another date ONCE and only if availability allows. Any changes to the date after the first time will result in a $30 administration fee every time the date is changed thereafter. Once an order is collected/delivered and accepted no refunds can then be issued for damage to the cake. Any refunds given regarding other disputes are at the discretion of The Sweetest Bite and are not automatic. Full refunds will not be given when produce has been consumed as consumption of the product was adequate for the purpose it was supplied. In the unlikely event you are unsatisfied with your order all remaining cake must be returned to The Sweetest Bite for review and testing. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Changes to design and flavour

Any changes made to your order after the balance has been paid may incur a surcharge. Any changes that result in the adding of decorations will incur the fee designated to that particular decoration. In most cases changes can be accommodated but at times it is simply not possible.

Delivery/Collection

All orders are packaged in the safest way possible to ensure full stability when travelling. Clients picking up orders are fully responsible for the safe delivery of their product. The Sweetest Bite does not accept responsibility for accidents that occur once the product leaves the premises. The Sweetest Bite is not responsible for any damage that occurs to product after setup is complete when delivering. Acceptance of the cake at the venue indicates that the cake is in good condition. Where delivery is required, anyone at the delivery venue who receives the order will be considered as being authorised by the client to accept the goods. Cakes require a sturdy table for display and should be kept out of direct sunlight and the room must be at a suitable temperature. The Sweetest Bite cannot take responsibility for the deterioration of the cake should these conditions not be met. The Sweetest Bite is not responsible for any damage to, loss or shortage of cake caused by any person not employed by The Sweetest Bite.

Delivery and setup will incur a fee and delivery will be offered only if the venue is deemed a suitable distance away.

Quick cakes

Quick cakes are exactly as the name suggests and therefore other than colour choice on the buttercream, no other addition or changes can be made to the set design. Chocolate or vanilla butter cakes are the only flavour options for quick cakes.

Design

The Sweetest Bite endeavours to provide the highest quality products to our clients. It is important to note that as we are dealing with food and art no two products will be exactly the same. Exact replicas from photographs/pictures cannot be ensured as colours are subjective and cannot always be matched. In order to avoid copyright infringement any design requests provided by a picture will be altered some way.

Consultations

Tastings are offered only for Weddings are strictly by appointment. A fee is charged for two people only with the cost being taken off the final total of the wedding cake order should a deposit be made within 48 hours of a consultation.

Serving sizes

Serving sizes provided by standard cakes are based on dessert portions being 1” wide x 2” long x 4” high and coffee portions being 1” wide x 1” long x 4” high per slice. The Sweetest Bite warrants all cakes will provide at least the requested number of serves when properly cut and served according to size. The number of serves created cannot be guaranteed during service as methods of slicing can alter the amount. A cutting guide will be provided with all larger cakes to ensure you get the maximum amount of serves per cake.

Storage

Buttercream, naked cakes and cupcakes without fondant detail should be kept stored in a refrigerator in the box it came in then removed and brought to room temperature before serving. All cakes, cupcakes or cookies with fondant detail should be stored in the boxes they came in away from direct sunlight and heat, preferably in a cool, dark and dry room. Once a cake has been cut it should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge. Cut cake and cupcakes can be stored in an airtight container in the freezer for up a month.

Flowers

Fresh flowers are to be provided by the client and will need to be delivered to The Sweetest Bite the morning the cake is required. The Sweetest Bite will not add any flowers not appropriately treated, wired or taped by the florist. If flowers are not available at time of delivery, The Sweetest Bite will not be responsible for arrangement on the cake. Please note that as flowers are not a food product The Sweetest Bite is not liable for any reactions caused by pesticides, dirt, insects or other contaminants

Allergens

If you have any dietary requirements please discuss these with us upon inquiry. Cakes can be made free of allergens such as egg, dairy, wheat, nuts, gluten etc. but please be aware all our products are made in a kitchen where allergens are present. The Sweetest Bite cannot fully guarantee our products won’t carry traces of allergens for those who are highly sensitive. The Sweetest Bite cannot be held liable for any adverse reactions.

Photography

All our cakes are photographed prior to collection or upon delivery/setup. The Sweetest Bite reserves the right to use all photographs for display or promotional services without any compensation to the customer.

Viewing

As we are usually very busy when creating cakes please avoid requesting images of your order prior to collection/delivery. The Sweetest Bite does not offer that service. Thank you for understanding.

Cake Stand Hire

Cupcake or cake stands may be hired out for a fee. A $120 security deposit is required (on top of hiring fee) before hiring; the deposit will be forfeited if the stand is not returned in the same condition in which it was hired. The stand is to be returned within 78 hours of your event unless otherwise arranged or you forfeit your deposit regardless of the condition of stand. A $20 late fee will be added for every day the stand is late thereafter. The stands must not be cleaned with harsh abrasives, scourers and should not be placed in the dishwasher.

Acceptance of this agreement is contingent upon the ability of The Sweetest Bite to fulfill the agreement and is subject to accidents or other incidents beyond our control. In an instance where The Sweetest Bite cannot complete an order, all efforts will be given to find an equally suitable decorator. Should one not be available a full refund of payments made will be issued.

Payment of deposit results in the client accepting all Terms and Conditions.
