I bring the frames inside to drain the cells, away from inquisitive bees.
Outside they'll often try to drink the honey, but end up falling into the jars.

Swarm season is here 🐝🐝🐝🐝
A colony landed very high in my backyard a couple of days ago.
I set up a new box with a frame of partially made comb, containing nectar, honey and pollen. Fortunately some scout bees quite liked this space, and relayed back to their sisters that they'd found a new home (yay!).
They've settled in well, and have been busy building new comb on the empty frames 💛

Hives are expanding as the colonies welcome Spring!
Although it's been so cold, these bees know the season is changing. Drones are hatching, frames are full of developing larvae and there's burr comb on the lids.
So time to add another box and give them more room.
Ideal frames, a super and a fresh box of miniframes - ready for a new honey season 🐝🍯😊

Spring is here! 🌼🐝
I can hear the bees before I see them. They're so excited to have an abundance of blooming wattle. One of the first Spring flowers; its pollen is an important source of protein for the colony.
