WE DID IT. 🏆

Victorian Abalone Australia has won the 2026 National Seafood Industry Award for Primary Producer (Small). 🐚

Honestly, we’re a little lost for words.

To be recognised at a national level for something we have poured so much of ourselves into is incredibly special.

This business has taught us more than we ever expected — about resilience, patience, hard work, taking the good days with the difficult ones, and most importantly, about the people and communities that make the Australian seafood industry what it is.

There have been plenty of moments where we’ve wondered whether we were getting it right. So to stand in Sydney tonight and hear our name called is something we’ll never forget! Seafood Industry Australia

We’re heading to Sydney next week for the National Seafood Industry Conference, where the winner will be announced.

We are genuinely grateful for the journey that has brought us to this point. For everything this industry has taught us in our first year, the challenges that have pushed us to grow, the people we’ve met along the way, and the opportunity to do what we love every day in the waters we call home.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come, whatever the outcome.
We are especially proud to represent Victorian seafood, and incredibly thankful for everyone who has supported us along the way.

Not every abalone we find in Victoria is a Blacklip or Greenlip…

This is a Brownlip Abalone (Haliotis conicopora), a species predominantly found in the waters of Western Australia, where it supports its own commercial fishery.

Every now and then, we’re lucky enough to come across one here in Victoria. They’re an uncommon find and always a great reminder of the diversity of Australia’s marine life.

One of the easiest ways to identify a Brownlip Abalone is by the distinctive inverted Christmas tree-like frills along the edge of its lip. Once you’ve seen them, they’re hard to miss!

It’s always a privilege to encounter these unique animals while diving.
