🍳There’s no egg shortage around here🍳

🐓 🌲 Fresh farm eggs in the shop daily, now alongside our organic garlic! 🌲 🧄

✨Garlic is cured and ready to eat, or for planting in the up coming winter🧄🌧️

Sadly due to the dam running dry for the second time in nine years, and low water reserves, we’ve had to turn the tap off to the veggie garden and just cross our fingers for next year 🌲🤞🏼🥬🥒🥕🥔🌧️

Now that eggs won’t be visible in the shop, we have implemented a cutting edge, state-of-the-art, flip sign system ✨💡🟢🔴✨ if you happen to purchase the last carton of eggs, please flip the sign to sold out 🚫

🌱🍓Due to yesterdays interest in our strawberries, we decided to do a partial shop for Thursday 😋

Hey guys remember us ?

That was a longer winter hiatus than usual !

We’re back for the summer veggie season with a new member on the team, Greta’s 2 week old daughter ‘Snowbird’

With the chance of frost past and the cold nights being less intense here on the mountain, the soil is tilled and the crops are going in …….

Here we go again !!!!! 🌽🥕🥒🥬🫑🧅

Its been the best honey season in 7 years 🐝
Our bees have been so busy visiting all the flowers of Mount Crawford forest 🐝

We will have these jars (and plenty more) straight from our hive ready in the shop tomorrow @ $10 for almost half a kg 🍯🐝

Forest honey tastes AMAZING ! ✨

Shop is stocked daily with fresh free range eggs and the freshest hand grown purple striped Italian garlic ever 🧄🧄🐝🍯🐓🥚🍳🥚

We certainly have mastered the art of growing organic Garlic 🧄🧄✨👌

The crop is ready for sale and we have hundreds of kg ready to go ! 🧄🧄

Fresh as you can get, beautiful sized Italian purple bulbs 🧄🧄

We’re so sorry to have to share some very sad news ….

We lost Greta’s baby,

Day 6 and he had a seizure, we rushed him to an after-hours goat expert vet, but with all the help he never turned around.

He died surrounded by all of us 24 hours later,
Greta, Hannah and Nathan .. just in disbelief of what just happened 😓

We made a huge space for him,
Greta just adored him as we all did
Everyone has been numb,

We were still trialing names ….

Now that the mornings are warmer, the seedlings are all in and we are coming out of our winter slow down ❄️

Every year we get better at everything .. I must say this year our seed trays are 🌱✨👌🙌

We are day 2 into our biggest garlic crop harvest ever … 50% pulled … pics coming ..

So this weekends news ….. is ….

Our Toggenburg doe Greta …who we raised and love to bits …. Is officially ..1 month into her pregnancy ! ✨🐐✨💙

This called for a family photo … We are so excited!! It’s a farm first !!

We are focussed on passive milking which means we will fit in around her kids … with no need for them to be taken away ✨🐐👌

This will be our departure from the retail dairy industry ….

We are busy educating ourselves on making goat milk products, soon ‘Feta from Greta’ …will be added to our Farm Gate range ….

We will keep you posted on her progress 🙌

We have some big news updates 🔊

Firstly … a big change to our family …..

Thanks to the support from you and the hard work we do at Farm Gate.
Nathan has been able to resign from his dreaded gov office job of 14 years and take up a full time horticulture role at a local family run production nursery…much closer to our own farm 🌱✨🪴🌿

Learning new skills that will make Farm Gate even more productive = more veggie boxes 🥬🥕🌽🧅🫑🍑🧅🧄🍋🥔🥚🐐🐐

Also a big uniform change !

It’s never to late to change your life …!
